@jwalkermobile All wines I've had from Larner vineyard are excellent. Had this one the other night: shop.klwines.com/products/detai…

@Mangan150 @GuruAnaerobic We would do long road trips as a kid and I was obsessed with our atlas. Google maps is great for going down a rabbit hole of dream trip planning, added bonus you educate yourself. I do it daily.

@GuruAnaerobic When I was about 20, I practically memorized the world atlas.

Wild Cherry has just twelve tables in their dining room and twelve bar stools, so availability is exceptionally limited, and reservations can be challenging. From reviews I read, this is a strong contender for NYC’s “best burger,” and theirs was reportedly developed by the same team that did Minetta’s amazing “Black Label Burger.” A celebrity hang out, located in the century old Cherry Lane Theater, it’s reportedly Sabrina Carpenter’s favorite spot, she wasn’t visiting while we were there but Jane Kraskowshi and David Rockwell were, and now everyone is googling them.
They have a very small wine list, but a good selection of creative cocktails. I started off with their Scorpion Bowl made with Rum | Cognac | Gin | Falernum | Orgeat | Orange | Lime and served for 2 or 4. I had the “2” which as far as you know I shared… great drink, adorned with flowers, and mini Light Stix in the oversized glass. Sarah had the Bee’s Knees which she really enjoyed.
Their eclectic menu includes such items scungilli, which everyone is also now googling, we started with their Frog Leg’s Kiev and their Steak Tartar. The appendages of the 🐸 were crispy, hot and garlicky, very nice. Sarah who is truly a Tartar aficionado rates the steak tartare “not flashy, just really good.” Mixed with Worcestershire, Cornichons, amd Dijon topped with horseradish, and served with toasted bread.
We did a bit of “Surf & Turf” and split the lobster club and the aforementioned burger. Club was really nice, just hard to eat without it falling apart, a hallmark of most toasted three layer clubs. Burger, which they recommend medium rare, comes with melted cheese and cooked white onion. Burger and Club are both served ala Carte, so we added fries which were very good, and came with a nice mild aioli. Burger isn’t at the same level as Minetta or 4 Charles, but still a good burger.
We ended with their Black Forest Custard, which had brownie pieces and Luxardo cherries, and was really lovely.
If you’re looking for great food, on the level of 4 Charles, The Corner Store or The Polo Bar, you’ll probably be disappointed. If you’re looking for great music, high energy, in a fun casual environment, you should love Wild Cherry. 🍒
