Truth is always stranger than fiction.. The paleo bros are in obscurity now. RW still has autoimmune diseases but like PS sold books to make millions. Sisson sold his franchise and moved from Cali to Fla and got a hip replacement. Me......I just love it all.

Vive Chartreuse!

CATHOLICISM: SAVING CULTUE FROM SECULAR ATHEIST SUBVERSIVES SINCE 33 A.D.🇻🇦 In 1903, the French government expelled the Carthusian monks from their monastery in the Alps and seized everything they owned. The monastery. The distillery. The equipment. All of it. There was just one little problem. Only two monks in the entire order knew the recipe for Chartreuse, and they had memorized it. There was nothing written down that the government could take. The French government hired chemists to reverse-engineer it. They analyzed every bottle they could find. They ran every test available to early 20th-century science. They could not replicate it. The liqueur they produced under the Chartreuse name was so inferior that it destroyed the brand almost immediately. Sales collapsed. The company the government set up to produce it went bankrupt in 1929. The monks, meanwhile, had relocated to Tarragona in Spain and were producing the real thing the entire time. In 1929, the same year the French government's operation went under, the monks quietly bought back the rights to their own name and returned to their monastery. The recipe is still known by exactly two monks at any given time. When one dies or becomes too ill to continue, he passes his portion to a successor. The full recipe has never been written down in a form that has left the order. Chartreuse is made from 130 Alpine plants and herbs. The monks tend the distillery themselves. They take no outside employees into the production process. The 1605 manuscript that started all of this is still held in the monastery archive. The French Third Republic lasted from 1870 to 1940. The monks are still there, still making Chartreuse.

@Mangan150 @GuruAnaerobic We would do long road trips as a kid and I was obsessed with our atlas. Google maps is great for going down a rabbit hole of dream trip planning, added bonus you educate yourself. I do it daily.

Wild Cherry has just twelve tables in their dining room and twelve bar stools, so availability is exceptionally limited, and reservations can be challenging. From reviews I read, this is a strong contender for NYC’s “best burger,” and theirs was reportedly developed by the same team that did Minetta’s amazing “Black Label Burger.” A celebrity hang out, located in the century old Cherry Lane Theater, it’s reportedly Sabrina Carpenter’s favorite spot, she wasn’t visiting while we were there but Jane Kraskowshi and David Rockwell were, and now everyone is googling them. They have a very small wine list, but a good selection of creative cocktails. I started off with their Scorpion Bowl made with Rum | Cognac | Gin | Falernum | Orgeat | Orange | Lime and served for 2 or 4. I had the “2” which as far as you know I shared… great drink, adorned with flowers, and mini Light Stix in the oversized glass. Sarah had the Bee’s Knees which she really enjoyed. Their eclectic menu includes such items scungilli, which everyone is also now googling, we started with their Frog Leg’s Kiev and their Steak Tartar. The appendages of the 🐸 were crispy, hot and garlicky, very nice. Sarah who is truly a Tartar aficionado rates the steak tartare “not flashy, just really good.” Mixed with Worcestershire, Cornichons, amd Dijon topped with horseradish, and served with toasted bread. We did a bit of “Surf & Turf” and split the lobster club and the aforementioned burger. Club was really nice, just hard to eat without it falling apart, a hallmark of most toasted three layer clubs. Burger, which they recommend medium rare, comes with melted cheese and cooked white onion. Burger and Club are both served ala Carte, so we added fries which were very good, and came with a nice mild aioli. Burger isn’t at the same level as Minetta or 4 Charles, but still a good burger. We ended with their Black Forest Custard, which had brownie pieces and Luxardo cherries, and was really lovely. If you’re looking for great food, on the level of 4 Charles, The Corner Store or The Polo Bar, you’ll probably be disappointed. If you’re looking for great music, high energy, in a fun casual environment, you should love Wild Cherry. 🍒

Is there anything better than simple steak, mashed potatoes, and Cabernet Sauvignon? Also, maybe my best potatoes yet.
