A look back at the memory lane. The iconic JNU Red Bus was once functional between 1970s till mid 1990s, dropping students to different hostels from Central library and school areas. The picture belongs to Mandira Mitra, JNU Alumni taken in 1970s.

Holi in JNU starts at midnight with the tradition of Chaat Sammelan. Hundreds of students participate in a symbolic ‘Swayamvar’ from Tapti Hostel to Jhelum Hostel to meet ‘Jhel Kumari’ followed by cultural performances. To this day, the decade old pre-Holi tradition lives on.

Did you know? Architect CP Kukreja was selected among 68 entries for creation of JNU in 1969. He imagined a university where every institution became a micro-city. Departing from banal institutional designs, Kukreja built a micro-city where every structure blended with Aravalli.

A big loss for Indian IR scholarship. A renowned South Asia expert @sisjnu_official jons hsi family in mourning his passing and extends sympathies 🕉 @jnu_aao 💐
Amitabh Mattoo@amitabhmattoo

One of India’s most distinguished scholar diplomats, Professor Muchkund Dubey has passed away. An outstanding Foreign Secretary known for his fiery temper, he moved on to become the wise and sagely Professor at @sisjnu_official . A passionate believer in South Asian Integration and Nuclear Disarmament, he was amongst the tallest officers of the Foreign Service committed to a normative view of the world. Understandably, he was welcomed at SIS which respects diversity and where scholars were as engaged in disinterring the realism of the way the world was run as they were in the perpetual and sometimes frustrating quest for a better world!!! Muchkund Dubey was one of a kind; a rarity who seemed be sometimes intolerant of those not as gifted as him, but never lost his soul or his human touch in the process of thinking and leading the world of foreign policy, whether it be in South Block or SIS! Om Shanti 🙏
