@chatswithem So what's happening here then? Saturated air, contrail persists, not saturated, contrail dissipates. Water vapour is invisible, you can only see a contrail when the water vapour from combustion condenses into ice crystals where the air is saturated.

Another morning waking up to full blue sky After the last 5 years of monotonous grey and striped blue turned silver This is unheard of . Reminds me of the days I enjoyed in my childhood with beautiful skies, fresh breezes , beautiful evenings , hot summers playing in rivers and out on bikes and in autumn misty mellow fruitfulness and winter frosty mornings Nature bright in all its radiant beauty Something has changed in the last few weeks And I like it !

@chatswithem Yep, different heights, different saturation levels etc. Same reason why clouds have edges. You can see where one of those moves into drier air and the contrail dissipates in that area. The number of flights doesn't vary much from day to day, the schedule is pretty similar.

@chatswithem Land ice when it melts contributes to sea level rise, eg Greenland and Antarctica. Water expands when it gets warmer which also causes sea level rise. Ice reflects sunlight, less ice = greater warming.

I don't understand this crazy hysteria re temperatures potentially warming an infinitesimal amount. I mean we are still coming out of a mini ice age no? And humanity flourishes in warmer climates. So what's the fuss? Is there another reason the Netzero zealots want to keep us cold? Is it really re sea level rises ? ( plus if the ice melts I'm sure the sea levels stay the same ) ..... Or is there another reason they don't want the ice to melt ??

As athletes gather in England's capital city, we look back to 1981 when the first ever official London Marathon took place. A few days before the event, Blue Peter showed off some of the technology which would keep track of the 7,500 runners taking part.

@darren_dazmav80 @perspective40 Because it is not accelerating. You experience acceleration, you don’t feel constant motion. An earthquake is part of the Earth’s crust accelerating, you can feel those!!

@darren_dazmav80 @perspective40 You felt acceleration. You don’t feel it moving when it’s cruising unless it turns or is in turbulence (which is again acceleration). The Earth is not accelerating.

@richardfields12 @chatswithem Combustion equation taught in KS3 science is fuel+oxygen -> water+carbon dioxide. Fuel in cars or fuel in aeroplanes do the same. Both release water and CO2 and both responsible for climate change.

@chatswithem Their trolling with that , always the same answer, car exhaust must be just condensation water vapour then, but yet they blamed for c/c

@Champchatpod24 The goal difference is irrelevant. If it happens Oxford end up with the better goal difference regardless of the scores.

Following Charlton Athletic's 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town, Oxford United are just about still alive! 😅 However, to beat the drop, they MUST win their final two games and hope Charlton lose BOTH of their last two. 🧐 Charlton currently have a better GD by two. 😬 #CAFC #OUFC

@bsec_wales @chatswithem Another example to explain why taking longer doesn’t necessarily use more fuel. I drive 60miles at 10mph at 60mpg it costs 1 gallon of fuel. Same journey same fuel economy at 70mph still only uses 1 gallon of fuel.

@bsec_wales @chatswithem That's not how fuel efficiency works. If I do a 60mile journey at 60mph at 60mpg I will use a gallon of fuel. If I do the same journey at 70mph at 40mpg I will use 1.5 gallons of fuel. It will take longer but use less fuel. Going from 60 to 70mph typically uses 10-20% more fuel.

@chatswithem Not only that, if you go slower you are on the road for longer htus inherently using more fuel.

@TakeThatClouds @RSynns Ironically the reason lighthouses are tall towers or built on the tops of cliffs is so the beam can be seen further around the curvature of the Earth!

@RestoreBritain_ Assuming a constant 80mph instead of 70 would save about 6 minutes over a 60 mile journey. Since you would be accelerating and decelerating and it’s not possible to do that in reality the savings are likely to be less than 2 minutes.

A Restore Britain Government will raise the speed limit on British motorways to 80mph. Restore Britain will get the country moving.

@RupertLowe10 From 20 to 30mph collision energy increases by 125%. More than double. Children aren’t just outside schools, they walk to school, play in our towns and villages. You’re advocating for more death and serious injury on our roads.

A Restore Britain Government would raise the speed limit on British motorways to 80mph, and slash back 20mph zones other than around schools. Too much petty regulation has held Britain back for far too long - Restore Britain would gladly burn that all away.
