@jdtdobson That’s about how long I’m finding their attention span to be… and for some kids it’s even less. Otherwise I find I’m just talking to myself…

@riahthelee I absolutely loved my daughter’s K and 3rd grade teachers but they both did a dress up/activity calendar for the whole month of December and it nearly did me in. Being a teacher myself I’m barely holding it all together this time of year… she’s now in 5th and it’s much less…

@sewistwrites Lots. My parents love language has always been gifts, even when they didn’t have a lot of money. Same with my grandparents. My grandma was famous for wrapping things like candy and nuts just so there were more packages to open. I would love if they did only 3 or 4 gifts.

@MrSchwenn And they need to stop making books kids would read otherwise (I survived, Who is/Who was) into graphic novels! Let them read books with more words than pictures!!!
English

@MrSchwenn Yes! I say this all the time and get flack because supposedly “any reading is good reading”… they are not growing in their reading or comprehension skills by reading these books over and over! I’m ok if they want to get hooked into reading with these but they need to expand!

@JayWamsted If we’re playing this game, why not take it all the way back down to elementary? The rigor and workload turns them off from a very early age. There is no time for play or just to have fun,(by which they used to learn social skills). Now we “teach” them packaged SEL lessons and 🤞🏻

@Nieb77 @heymrsbond Same. We negotiated it about 8 or 9 years ago and it’s in our contract.
English

@heymrsbond Here teachers can submit for extra pay to cover during planning.
English

@heymrsbond We get paid an hour at our hourly rate of pay for covering during a prep. This was negotiated a number of years ago and is in our contract. Considering 2 hours at my pay rate is more than the daily rate for subs, it’s not very cost effective for the district. We need more subs!

@Mathowitz The phenomenon is called “after school restraint collapse”… I’d be willing to bet that the ADHD intensifies it.

@kindermeg The amount of coughing in my class yesterday was crazy! Then I got called at noon by my daughter’s school nurse (different school) to pick her up. She likely has strep. This winter is going to be so bad in terms of illnesses!
