I don't think people realize the extent of the current property tax revolt, but many states are seriously toying with ending property taxes altogether. Doing so would lead to a more centralized, overbearing government. We can limit the taxes instead. My latest @CityJournal

Does only CAMT tax book income? Nope. Amazingly, the @davidsgamage, @BDGesq, et. al. wealth tax in California also has GAAP-based income and asset values in the tax base. Please just leave book income out of the tax base. We have been down this path before. Thoughts:

Nearly 100% of Europe's tax revenue advantage is from their VATs - and for Scandinavia, its VATs and payroll taxes. Those are broad-based taxes. Its not because Europe is some tax-the-rich utopia.
