"The only way out is through" - Tarek As big as Kalshi is now, when I first met Tarek a few years ago, the only takeaway I had: this guy is going through it. I vividly recall us walking around in Soho and him suddenly needing to stop in the middle of the street, super stressed out, searching for somewhere to sit while I went to the nearest coffee shop to get him a cup of water. He had the full weight of the industry on his shoulders. When I had some painful professional hardship, Tarek would call often, reminding me that this is part of life, and that you need to have an incredibly high pain threshold to succeed. When I joined, the government had just rejected our two year long bid to list election markets. I recall morale being at an all time low. There was a solid 6 months, where nothing was really going right. We had ~ 20 employees, people were leaving, users were churning, others were quietly questioning the vision. Through it all, the one constant was Tarek and Luana showing up every day for the team.
