A small fire has temporarily closed the GR Children's Museum. GRFD says it appears an electric powered prop overheated, filling the building w/smoke. Fire officials credit museum staff w/evacuating everyone safely.

There is also hope that the victim managed to crawl out of the water on their own. Rescuers are also searching the shoreline w/help from a drone.

Grand Rapids FD Dive Team members prepare to search for the victim. A canoeist saw the person go under the water just before noon. Personal items were found on a nearby shore. If the victim is found in the water, cold water drowning procedures can be used to save the them.

The suspect has been charged w/Felony Firearms & 4th Degree Child abuse in connection w/the May 10th incident.
