What a joy to welcome out of captivity Evan Gershkovich, Paul Whelan, Alsu Kurmashova, Vladimir Kara-Murza & the others unjustly detained. Our hopes remain with so many others still being held, including our own @georgetownsfs alum @FreeAustinTice. Let's bring him home!

At our @georgetownsfs commencement last year, we honored those brave souls who sacrifice their own freedom to secure our freedom. @Dasha_Navalnaya spoke movingly of her father’s struggle. Today we mourn the death of @navalny & call for justice in his memory.

Last night we welcomed three speakers to offer reflections: Debra Tice, mother of political prisoner Austin Tice (@GUAlumni’02, L’13); Dasha Navalnaya, the daughter of political prisoner Alexei Navalnay; and Evan Mawarire, a former political prisoner himself.

In the history of the Marshall program, the only schools to have 4 or more Marshall Scholars in a single year are Harvard, Yale, Stanford and MIT. @georgetownsfs joins that rank this year with these four outstanding students. We are so proud of them!

It was a full house to hear President Jokowi of Indonesia @IndonesiainDC speak @georgetownsfs. The world's 3rd largest democracy & largest Muslim-majority nation, Indonesia is a key player in critical global issues whose voice needs to be heard.
