@KuperSimon I did. I admire Spain’s system, but I love the passion of the Argentinian players—and supporters—even if it made them lose their heads. Two sides of Catholicism, in a way: systematic and precise versus chaotic and carnivalesque.

Genuine question, I'm curious, and don't do abuse either way, please, as pointless: is there anyone out there who isn't Argentinian who was supporting Argentina?

“I came without a speech, because I’m hungry. “I’m hungry for justice, hungry for authentic charity, hungry for a Church that truly knows how to open the doors, welcome, receive everyone, where there is love for all and where no one is an enemy.” — Pope Leo XIV at lunch with 200 migrants, refugees, and homeless persons.

“In the monastery, every activity was oriented toward communion with God. This infused all aspects of life –prayers, of course, but meals, work, sleep, and conversations as well. Books and education were no exception.” “Reading Matters” at Literary Hub: lithub.com/writing-as-spi…

The Trump Administration wanted Pope Leo XIV to visit the United States for our 250th anniversary. Instead, he visited the Italian migrant island of Lampedusa and lifted up the plight of those who undertake a dangerous journey to new lands in search of a better future for their children.

Powerful moment in Lampedusa today as the Pope Leo climbs to the highest rock overlooking the Mediterranean where thousands of migrants drowned while seeking a better life.

In a study, John Dyer asked two test groups of Evangelicals to follow a schedule for spiritual reading—half of them using printed Bibles, the other half using apps. The results showed that many in the digital group had difficulty approaching the text with a sense of devotion.

This is a great illustration of the status of print: a social media post may easily have 100 times the reach of even a bestselling book — still, the physicality and historicity of the printed book outweigh those numbers.

Case study in the power of print: TikTok creator @jackbenedwards reaches millions with his videos, but always dreamed of seeing his work in physical form. He's now a books columnist for @EsquireUK and made a video about the thrill of tracking down a copy of the magazine.
