I like "Speed City." It aligns with the one thing everybody knows about the city, and is clearly authentic to it. It's easy to create good imagery around it. It's intrinsically positive, with the only negative connotation potentially being with the drug. It also provides a banner to mobilize around in terms of taking action. For example, making everything like the BMV in terms of speed could be a rallying cry of reform. The real measure of it will be whether its aspirational elements are realized. Example: - Can Indy be the place where young talent gets raises and promotions faster than any other comparable market? - Can Indy be the place where a startup can get a VC check faster than any other comparable market? - Can our hotels check in guests faster than any other market such that visitors notice it and comment about it on social media? These aren't easy to make happen but are within the span of control of local business leaders. The biggest challenge I see is that the brand is not aligned with how Indy's culture works civically. Indy is mostly consensus driven, and can take longer than other places to decide to do something. That's actually part of the success of the city in that it has a very high success rate with civic initiatives and unusual levels of sustainability (e.g., the sports initiative). But in general, the city does not operate speedily civically.

Looks like the new brand that Indy's civic leaders have chosen is "Speed City." What do you think?
