The frontier labs have a culture problem, and those of us who understand culture saw this miles away and years ago. We tried to help, we commented on what we saw, and the weirdo rationalists dismissed us as low IQ inferior folk who cannot understand their brilliant quest to build the machine god.
And that arrogance is now costing them billions of dollars in enterprise value.
And I hope this begins to appear in disappointing revenue numbers before they ipo, because if it happens after, the financial containment will be impossible.
Before they go public, what's going to matter is hyperscaler capex and a clear enough narrative to explain that decelerating growth at anthropic and openai doesn't mean that AI demand is down, it means these companies made a mistake that competitors are going to profit from.
I guess this is what I'll be spending my time writing about for the second half of this year.
