Gonna get sappy on here for a second.
Few know how much Tennessee football really means to me. It’s not only the team I grew up cheering for but my Alma mater and the reason why I wanted to be a sports reporter.
In 2022 I drove across the country to watch the Vols beat Alabama for the first time in 15 years. I watched in the stands with the two people that made me a VFL— my mom and my dad. I cried real tears and as dumb as it might sound to some, it was a dream come true.
Two years later I get a dream job— sports anchor in Knoxville. That already didn’t feel real. This time the third Saturday in October rolled around and another dream came true. I got to watch my favorite team beat Alabama in the house that built me. This time not from the stands as a fan, but from the sidelines as a sports reporter.
Even in my wildest dreams, I’m not sure I could’ve drawn this one up. Dreams do come true. Go Vols forever!
