Another worrying near miss at the A-listed Langside Hall.
Given that little progress seems to have been made by Langside Hall Trust, perhaps we should now test alternative options like @N_T_S did with Hutchesons' Hall, leasing it out to a restaurateur?

@MhairiHunter The list you are talking about is the listing system! Glasgow is one of the few cities in the country that treats listed buildings as a problem rather than an opportunity. Our heritage can’t be at the mercy of market forces - once it’s gone we can’t get it back!

Assemble a posse & lynch me but these flats look fine to me. Glasgow is full of empty listed buildings that no-one wants to buy. We need to get real. Let's put together a list of buildings we absolutely want to save & come up with a plan to save them. But we can't save them all.

Just a follow up to this tweet. Was passing today so noticed the buddleia has been removed. Therefore, I also chatted to the abseilers from thebalmoregroup.co.uk who confirmed how they’d tackled it by abseiling down the dome on the City Chambers which can’t have been easy 🤔👍!

Failure to recognise our globally significant architecture for what it is.

Glasgow demolished over 100,000 of its traditional tenements between 1960 and 1990.
Around 70,000 are left.
We should build many more of them, with sandstone façades and bay windows.

@john_t_brown The level of demolition was extreme. 40% of Glasgow's entire housing stock was demolished in 30 years! I saw another graph on here a few months ago showing annual house closures/demolitions, but I can't find it now. @RoryOlcayto or @MurphyNiallGLA might know where to find it.
