I’m excited to share my first preprint, with @john_widloski and @replayprof! We find that self-avoidance dominates the selection of hippocampal replay.

@heikecstein Had a great time at this program! Stellar faculty and staff, and at a beautiful location by the beach. Highly recommended!

BAMB! is back: 19-27th July, with a new, polished program that is all about modeling behavioral data (bambschool.org): RL, Bayesian, latent variable & sequence models, RNNs, DDMs & more. Applications will open in the next few weeks, so save the date & keep that tab open!

Wild mammal biomass has declined by 85% since the rise of humans. Today, humans represent aproximately 34% of global mammal biomass, while 62% is humans' livestock and pets. Wild mammals are just 4%

@ElDuvelle Based on the SFN 2022 abstracts, looks like @eric_denovellis might have something in the works on this?

Excited to share a new Current Opinion piece written by @NKadmonHarpaz , @BOlveczky, and myself! tinyurl.com/4hbu4mdx
In it, we discuss how neural circuits support motor sequence learning. Read on for a short 🧵!
English

@ElDuvelle @ak_gillespie @dlevenstein That’s right, generally not assessed, at least I haven’t. Tho it’s tempting to try to relate to 2D replays that go in reverse of the rats incoming path and forwards in the direction of where the rat is heading.
English

@ak_gillespie @ElDuvelle yeah, would be happy to (tho looking over others comments, not sure I'd have much more to add)
English

@ElDuvelle @john_widloski- if you're up for it (or anyone else in your lab?) - your drive experience/wisdom would be an awesome addition to this!

Excited to announce that I'll be joining the UC Santa Cruz Dept of MCD Biology @ucsc as an Asst Prof this Sept! My lab will study the development and evolution of complex behaviors, using birdsong and its circuitry as a model system.

@ElDuvelle That second sentence shouldve started with "However..."
English

@ElDuvelle yeah, this is a bit strange. I definitely saw firing rates decrease over the session in my version of his task.
jneurosci.org/content/jneuro… kind of speaks to this, where low and high firing rate cells increase their firing rate across the session (Fig 6b).
