📝 Diary of a Voice AI Developer — Entry #2 AI Browser Automation Hey everyone, back again with entry number two in this series, where I share breakdowns of the daily projects I'm working on In my last entry, I talked about building an AI dialer system for a client & recently shared a demo with them. So today, after yesterday’s demo, I shifted gears a bit & spent my time adding final touches to another client project. 🛠️ Today’s focus: The idea behind this new project combines the outbound automation capabilities of AI phone agents with the increasingly popular concept of AI browser automation. If you're not familiar with it, AI browser automation essentially mean AI has ability to directly interact with web browsers— like clicking buttons, pulling data from web pages & even navigating through social media, all through natural language instructions like English. Currently, I'm leveraging a tool called Airtop for this AI browser automation. I've previously shown how this works in practice by using it to automate appointment bookings on Calendly, which lacks a direct booking API in a previous post I did - shorturl.at/PlEHD 💻 Project Details : So I'm applying this same concept to help a client automate certain CRM tasks. For example, the AI can navigate through folders containing profiles of client, scrape ata from the profile like person’s email or so on, download associated files with that profile, & feed this information to an AI phone agent. After the call,  the AI can then  update the client profiles & add notes within the CRM just like a human would. You can check out a small demo my client posted around the timeframe of 10 mins in the video attached 🎧 Challenges i faced with this projects: 1️⃣ I couldnt simply rely on the AI do everything. AI cant bypass things like multi-factor authentication  nor can get access & retrieves cookies or download files & send it to your server. There many cases where I have had to write custom code to solves to specific issues instead of relying on AI itself 2️⃣The AI isnt perfect sometimes it click the wrong box or page and doesnt complete the task I ask it to do & I need to write queries to double to check if the AI completed the task & create retry functionality if it didnt 3️⃣ Building out UI & frontend to attach with the backend capability is good bit harder then just building api endpoint to trigger the automation…lot of debugging and messy code tbh Things that made solving these challenges easier 🕐 Airtop has lot of cool features ..they allow you to puppeteer/playwright to connect to the browser/instance airtop is using..this makes pretty easy to implement custom code when AI alone isnt enough to do some tasks 🕑 Airtop allows you to bring in your own proxy this gives me the ability to give the instance I’m connecting a familiar ip which means the AI doesn’t have to log in every time it spins up an instance
