Wow. American scientists invented a cancer-fighting drug named Yervoy that is being tested on patients in London right now. One man in the study has been CURED of the deadly brain cancer Glioblastoma. The new treatment is revolutionary. American scientists Dr. James Allison, who played a major role in discovering how to block the CTLA-4 protein to unleash the immune system against cancer, was awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for this work.

Previous work has demonstrated that neoadjuvant PD-1 blockade could enhance anti-tumor immune responses and improve survival in RECURRENT GBM but that trial only involved 35 patients and has not been repeated and has not altered our treatment paradigm at all for recurrent GBM. To suggest that this one patient will represent the results for all newly diagnosed GBM patients is not only misleading but unfair to our patients that are desperate to find a cure. We all have many two year plus survivors of newly diagnosed GBM but we never make these outlandish claims until the entire trial is complete and all the data analyzed.
