Back home after a fantastic few months travelling around New Zealand. So many amazing birds and even more photos taken. Species and location written in the ALT.

Stopped to watch three Swifts feeding along the cliffs by the House Martin colony at Whitmore Stairs, Vale of Glamorgan. It's getting on now, of course; each sighting could well be the last of the year.

A nice day for shorebirds at Kenfig NNR. My first Green Sandpiper of the year was at the pool but was flushed without a photo. Two gorgeous Red Knot at Sker more than made up for it- Red adults are scarce here so to get two was a bonus. One seen here with Turnstone & Sanderlings.

A typically flighty Greenshank is present at Ogmore Estuary for its second day, along with six Common Sandpipers (one of which also pictured) and a Little Ringed Plover.

A fabulous Golden-ringed Dragonfly seen today - it was so close, we could actually see it sipping nectar from the bramble flower.

A lovely Wood Sandpiper at Sker Pool, which occasionally disappeared completely into the marginal vegetation. Nice find by @dean_bolt

A couple of breeding plumaged Ruddy Turnstones among a group of twelve at Sker on a misty morning. A small roost held six Bar-tailed Godwits, nine Whimbrels, nine Ringed Plover and single Grey Plover and Eursian Curklew with two Northern Gannets offshore.

After brief views yesterday afternoon, I finally had great views of a local pair of Little Owls perched on a barn roof with @NPRoberts @DorotaSiomko @JohnLugg. Photo is from Sker in 2022.

Snow Bunting is uncommon locally, so it was good to catch up with this one feeding in broken ground on the cliffs at Southerndown (you might have to squint to see it in the last pic).

I had an enjoyable last few hours birding the Hajnowka Meadows before travelling back to UK tomorrow. The highlights were 5+ Crested Tits, 4 Willow Tits including a very vocal bird, as well as 62 Fieldfares, 8 Bramblings, 26 Siskins, 10 Jays & 3 Roe Deer.

The first Wood Sandpiper for three years was at Kenfig Pool and proved to be one of the most obliging I have ever seen. It even gave a burst of song at one point and called regularly before it was seen heading off strongly north. Also 3 LRP, 4 Dunlin & 4 Spot Fly #glambirds
