Ok, sometime in the middle of the night, I had to call it quits on this! Drawings are a bit rushed but ideas are there. Class starts this afternoon & i have 2 before it - so best to know when to let it be. Next year’s version will be slicker! past syllabi spinweaveandcut.com/education-home/
@lowresolution@Fariska Gently pushing back on this I’ve taught for a decade in the numbers 1 & 2 design schools in the world after a 20 career in industry, now working at the UN. Most of my university colleagues in fact have significant experience outside academia. It’s what makes them great teachers
@Fariska I hear you, unfortunately many design teachers don’t have actual professional experience and very often they give their students a wrong idea about their future professional life.
Question to the many #designers working inside and outside of the #academia:
What do you think about the gap between #design as a profession and design in the academia?
What is the main skill to teach in a design school?

@nold_christian@Nordes_conf@thisisDRS Looks great, I’ve been thinking (in a vague and unfocused way) about this in the context of experience design realisation i.e. what externalisations do the methods imply?
New paper that uses John Dewey’s situations as a bridge between design and the social sciences. Mapping and sensing situations identifies actors, sensitises the researcher to power dynamics and allows interventions into complexity.
