Folks I may be amongst the few over Ian Huntley but when someone is sent to prison for whatever crime they commit they should be protected from being murdered or maimed; I may highlight the most serious of crime in Britain but justice must be given by our courts & Not by the hands of other offenders!🤷‍♂️

@timcairns Tim - Same story on flight from BFS-LGW this morning albeit all fairly pleasant, DL sufficed as ID & no major delay in getting thru the airport It’s a while since I’ve seen so many police & certainly seemed more meeting the Belfast flight than patrol the south coast of England 🙈

Police out in force and heavy handed @Gatwick_Airport due to illegal immigration from Belfast flights. About 20 very aggressive police officers demanding ID as illegal immigrate are “abusing flights from Belfast” I was told this will be here to stay. This is news to me

Pleased to attend the George Scott Robertson Memorial Lecture at @QUBelfast last night with academia, farmers, food processors, policy makers & agri-food stakeholders for a thought-provoking discussion on the future of our industry We heard from Ash Amirahmadi OBE, CEO of Sofina Foods Europe whose message was clear and challenging Agri-food must focus on: • People • Farmers • Policies • Innovation But crucially, farmers and innovation need to be at the very centre of this conversation Key themes that resonated strongly: 🔹 Greater collaboration and stronger partnerships across the entire supply chain 🔹 A recognition that driving innovation isn’t easy — but it is essential 🔹 Positioning farming and food as a genuine growth sector 🔹 Engaging education providers and career professionals to attract the next generation The lively Q&A session was equally impactful where Ash offered measured, pragmatic responses that challenged the room: • We need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves • We can’t blame government for everything • Everything has to be paid for — commercial reality matters • We must transcend individual interests and focus on the big picture A strong reminder that the future of agri-food will not be shaped by one group alone.
