4 pillars that separate engineering orgs that ship from ones that stall:
1️⃣ Speed + agility
2️⃣ Observability
3️⃣ AI agents & automation
4️⃣ Embedded security
HBR white paper breaks it down. I mapped it to AWS training paths that actually close the gap.

If your are a “classic” coder or software engineer, you have a year to get trained up on AI Engineering.
Tech Reformers@techreformers
Anthropic's CEO Dario Amodei predicted that software engineering will be automated in about 12 months. You have a year to become an AI Engineer. To get up to speed, we recommend AWS AI that is model agnostic and with Bedrock and Agent Core has the platform to build and host AI.

AWS just launched the **Agent Plugin for AWS Serverless** — a modular AI coding assistant plugin that packages skills, sub-agents, hooks, and MCP servers to guide developers through the *entire* serverless development lifecycle.
Here's what that means in plain terms: You can now use AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor to build Lambda functions, wire up EventBridge and Kinesis triggers, scaffold SAM/CDK projects, design API Gateway endpoints (REST, HTTP, WebSocket), and even implement Lambda Durable Functions — all with built-in AWS best practices baked in automatically.
**Why cert candidates should care:**
The exam domains this touches are significant:
- **DVA-C02**: Development with AWS services, Lambda, SAM, CI/CD pipelines, IaC
- **SAA-C03**: Serverless architecture patterns, event-driven design, decoupled systems
**Real-world scenario:** A Developer Associate tasked with building an order-processing pipeline could use this plugin inside Claude Code to scaffold a SAM template, connect a Kinesis stream trigger to Lambda, add CloudWatch observability hooks, and generate a CI/CD pipeline — in minutes, with architectural guardrails already applied.
This is the direction cloud development is heading. Understanding *what the AI is doing under the hood* — the SAM templates, the CDK constructs, the API Gateway configurations — is exactly what separates a certified professional from someone just clicking buttons.
💬 Are you using AI coding assistants in your AWS workflow yet? Drop a comment — we'd love to know how you're integrating these tools into your study and practice labs.

I just finished the P1-C01 - AWS Certified Generative AI Developer – Professional (Beta) Exam! 🎉I’m finally catching my breath. It was 85 questions in about 220 minutes ⏲️I needed every minute of it. I had around 5 minutes for review but didn't manage to get through all my flagged responses. I took the exam at a testing center and was allowed a quick break (though the timer kept running, but highly recommended!🚾). Today was the last day to take the beta version (85 questions instead of 75 and $150 instead of $300). I might be the last person to take that exam since it was after 6pm EDT 🤷The Skill Builder learning path was indeed a good way to prepare. It includes a lot of hands-on 🧤practice, and I also supplemented my studies with courses on Agent Core and Strands. I've been doing a lot of AI development for SMB/mid-market use cases. Like the Skill Builder examples, many of the scenarios involve enterprise-level use cases with millions of users and complex architectures that require compliance. As with any certification, this is not an end. Whether I pass or not, it will still be a learning journey. Next up could be DevOps, CloudOps, Security, or Data or it could be a second try on Gen AI Dev Pro. I should know tomorrow 🙏
