Today, I joined the people of Kisii to bid a final, respectful farewell to a matriarch of great grace, Mama Teresa Omoke, mother to Senator Richard Onyonka. While the day was marked by the solemnity of loss, it was also a powerful reminder of the indomitable spirit of the Kisii community.
The Kisii people have always occupied a pivotal place in the liberation and progress of this nation. From the frontlines of our history to the modern era, this region has consistently produced giants who prioritize the country’s integrity above all else.
Looking at the contributions of men like Abuya Abuya, Justice Maraga, George Anyona and presently Senator Richard Onyonka, one sees a legacy of intellectual depth, firm leadership, and a commitment to the national good that remains a source of pride for us all.
However, reflecting on this legacy also brings a moment of sober realization regarding the current state of leadership in the region. There was a time when the roots of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) were deep and nourished by the dignified, strategic leadership of figures like James Ongwae and Janet Ong'era. Those were days of structured progress and mutual respect.
In stark contrast, we are now witnessing a shift toward a brand of politics defined by hooliganism and the silencing of dissenting voices. It is deeply concerning to see leadership that relies on intimidation rather than dialogue. We must return to the standard set by those who came before us, where leadership was about vision and service, not about scaring those who hold a different view.
May the soul of Mama Teresa Omoke rest in eternal peace, and may her legacy of strength continue to inspire a more principled path forward for Kisii.

@KTNNewsKE Suchlike thinking 🤔 😆😂😂😂😆 who lies to you after uniting the single votes of each will be merged as one ? Some will leave

A united opposition candidate would trounce President William Ruto with 76 per cent of the vote if the opposition fronts a single presidential candidate in the 2027 elections.
A TIFA poll released yesterday places Ruto at 24 per cent, while the combined opposition vote, currently split among several contenders, stands at 76 per cent.

Congratulations to the @DCP_Democracy candidate in the Emurua Dikkir by-election Hon. Vincent Rotich for the splendid performance that has shaken south Rift politics, who for far too long, infact for over 60 years, been left behind in the independent Kenya. A score of 10,760 votes is no mean feat.
Congratulations to your team of campaigners and most notably the women who campaigned for you at night and odd hours. Kenya remains hopeful and greattly indebted to you and greatrtet hope for a better future.
I am so excited that you and your team worked tirelessly and made DCP Party a key player in the Rift Valley politics, reflecting the Kenya's focus for a united Nation that political parties do not represent perceptions of regional and parochial representation but a Kenya that is deprived of healthcare, education, security a bright future for its future generations.
DCP party celebrating one year tommorow stormed Mr. William Ruto’s perceived stronghold in style, gave him a run for his money and contemporaries forcing him to release millions of shillings of taxpayer money through a deprived payslip last night through chiefs, village elders and Nyumba kumi for a night operation to bribe voters.
My brother Vincent Rotich, we accept with grace your credible performance where for all practical purposes you are the hero of the day.
The DCP Party has made a heroic entry in Kenyan politics and is undoubtedly the most credible alternative vehicle to all aspirants who do not enjoy the favour of the ruling and corrupt elite, who cherish democracy and detest sycophancy.
To the great people of Emurua Dikkir, you are the true heroes of our Nation, Kenya, for showing independence of mind, rationality and exercising your democratic right and refusing to be intimidated.
I will, on my return from overseas trip visit to the United Kingdom, personally visit you and thank those who campaigned for and supported Hon. Vincent Rotich.
Watch this space, Vincent Rotich will be the candidate to beat on 10th August 2027.

Gituku: If you look at TIFA polls, you’ll see that President Ruto’s support is on a steady rise, Matiang’i in the other hand has been dropping consistently. DCP has also grown from 6% in November last year to now 16%; this says something about the embracing of different political parties. The poll however shows that no political party really represents the interests of Kenya

Jamila: This poll was a bit surprising. The four biggest takeaways for me are: no one is dominant in the race for the presidency, Ruto remains individually ahead but not overwhelmingly so. The poll exposes his vulnerability despite being the single strongest candidate in the field. It means the opposition still has room if it can unite, and I think that is the problem that the opposition seems to be fragmented to some extent. A year ago, Sifuna was barely considered anywhere in the national presidential conversation at all, but now he is appearing at 10%, and his Linda Mwananchi faction is up 73% support #CitizenNewsGang @JamilaMohamed

A very strong showing by DCP!
For a party that is barely a year old, and one they branded as a Wamunyoro/Kikuyu party to garner that many votes in Kalenjin land is very telling.
As things stand, Ruto does not have any region or community under lock and key. Even parts of Kalenjin land appear shaky.
If you doubt this, then explain how and why a candidate vying on a DCP ticket managed to garner more than 10,000 votes against 17,000 in Emurua Dikirr, a predominantly Kipsigis constituency.
Meanwhile, kutoka midnight diesel ni Ksh 242!
