So many of the best games are 7/10 because they do what they set out to do PERFECTLY and don't try to be everything for everyone. Fully appreciating them as 10/10 games requires that you earnestly engage with what they actually accomplish vs wishing they were something else.

@mira15032000 I saw the choice as meaningless. Wether you spare, or kill him, the battle will continue meaninglessly. And the Iwazaru= Kun reveal is showing how we never had any agency, Seeing a less nihilistic interpretation is nice, tho. K7 stands out against Suda’s fairly optimistic works

@johnmarrig I took the epilogue as Emir fully taking over the body (due to the green eyes) and choosing for himself (killing or sparing Matsuoka) rather than being given an order, and even if 100 years later the west and east still fight, that little moment of freedom was all Emir wanted.

Thinking back to it, the ending to Killer7 is such a gut punch it still gets me when i think about it. Seeing Garcian breakdown and get so emotional when he learns about himself is what most saddens me. A young boy manipulated to carry his past with him.

@mira15032000 Did you play the epilogue? I never really took it as Emir being free, he merged with that guy from the school, and is still being used as a tool. The world is still the exact same as it was, even 100 years later.

In the end Emir is truly free, but that comes at the cost of Garcian being gone forever. All it makes me think is how Sumio Mondo is probably gone for good as Sumio Kodai took his rightful place on that body.

I think of other ktp protagonists. people who just let the waves guide them and have no real goals, because they werent allowed to guide their own lifes. I see Garcian kinda like Sumio or Shiroyabu, just following whatever order they get simply because they were made for that.

Finished Killer7. Deeply loved it, a very thoughtful game that i'll digest over a long time.
