@realGulDukat The average low-information Federation voter is not going to know what the "FCA" is or means

@joshtpm Interesting that journalism "objectivity" practices alienated the right by seeming to cloak a liberal agenda, and "savvy" political coverage is alienating the left by cloaking its alignment with GOP interests. Nobody left to alienate

A great deal of center-left/Dem disgust/impatience with elite political journalism, which is being vented on the Post in reaction to the Bezos issue but is much broader, is about journalists who in various ways see their job, often giddily, as score keeping how effective Republican lies are rather than trying to clarify whether they're true.

Look. Three months ago Don was tired and adrift. They were having to walk him out to the memory garden for hours a day. Now Laura with her free spirit is bringing back his vigor and vital fluids. There’s a new energy at Mar a Lago.

@joshtpm Interesting that Penn got some "what happened to him?" press when he was attacking the Mueller investigation and then actually advising Trump - but today he's back writing NYT op-eds as a "Democratic centrist"

Mark's heel turn began before 2008. But a significant amount of his post-2008 arc is driven by the totally deserved humiliation over his role running Hillary's 2008 effort when it turned out he didn't even know the rules of the primary/caucus process and that played a ...

My name is mark, I create a new theory depending on the contingent and momentary needs of anti-Democratic party media. Mark hasn’t played in D party politics in going on 20 years. He runs a massive advertising holding company. He and his wife also own the No Labels operation. All the political stuff is subsidiary to and in the service of the ad holding company. The No Labels operation, the “Harris poll” etc etc

@joshtpm Maybe a combination of knee-jerk "Trump says [some new BS]" = news, and the organizational prerogative, from the very top as we've seen, to avoid the perception of favoring Ds (libs we're not on your side). Has to filter down in thousands of small decisions, including headlines

The funny thing with the Times is they often backread their heds from terrible to sub-terrible to sometimes even reasonable. So they seem to *agree* with the critiques, or at least concede them. So how is there not some recognition or consideration of: "Why do we routinely run headlines that are heavily slanted or misleading or following our organizational biases a bit too openly?"

@joshtpm Before Trump, we'd get all of this automatically. The fact that we get none of it now with Trump – over a relatively minor detail – shows how institutionally corrosive Trumpism is.

@joshtpm Important for several reasons: We need a detailed record of the incident for any Secret Service investigation/accountability; for public knowledge/trust of the institutions protecting candidates/officials; for transparency around leaders; for the historical record.

Very good write-up by Sanjay Gupta at CNN. It’s in depth and mainly deals with the lack of medical info about Trumps condition. But it’s the first MSM piece I’ve seen which notes, albeit elliptically, that we don’t actually know what hit Trumps ear. cnn.com/2024/07/18/hea…

I don't know anything about the Pah-wraiths or Project Burn The Universe. Who even are they? I especially don't know anything about the Kosst Amojan, or the Emissary of the Pah-wraiths, or Anjohl Tennan, or the Fire Caves, or ancient statues containing Pah-wraiths on Cardassia

@joshtpm Also curious - article mentions the Canadian, Irish, and Danish governments are investors. How often do national governments invest in independent film productions? Some kind of troll of Trump on behalf of culture ministries everywhere?

This lawsuit is like Dan Snyder's sponsored content for his new "I'm a complete idiot" advertising campaign. Like imagine for investment convo. Dan, we've got this Hollywood movie abt Trump. We've lined up Jeremy Strong to play Roy Cohn. Totally spotlights how awesome Donald is. And Snyder's like, wow, let me in.
