Two teeth KO’d. Stays in the game. Makes the winning shot in OT for Team USA Hockey to win gold. 46 years. Hard to find these plus, plus make up athletes in sports today. Most fold when adversity strikes. #JackHughes is a warrior who has the “IT” factor. 🇺🇸

By my count, 16 teenagers & 11 20 year-olds featured for MLS teams on opening day. Many of them were starts. A lot of them had an impact on results/performances. This is the way, MLS.

@DanGambleAI 2nd and 4 with about 5:40 left in the game, can’t believe they didn’t give him the yard on the carry.

@CodyBrownBets Thanks to K Williams losing most of his carries to Corum in 4th, missed by 1 pick. Had 39 to start the 4th, ended with 39. Ugh

I’m beyond excited and grateful to announce my verbal commitment to play Division II soccer and continue my education at Pittsburg State University! Huge thank you to my family and teammates for always supporting me and believing in me every step of the way. Thank you to my club, Union Kansas City, and to my past and present coaches — Dan Brown, Tim Kloster, Jacob Harrington, Mark Sheldon, Nac Neuendorf, Johnny Chain and Alex Drambour — for teaching me the game I love and helping me grow as a player and person. And a big thank you to Coach Wes Branstetter and the Pitt State staff for giving me this opportunity. Couldn’t be more ready for this next chapter as a GORILLA! 🦍⚽️ @gorillassoccer @TherealwesWes @PittStGorillas #GorillaNation #GorillaSoccer #OAGAAG @UnionKC09GA @kccoachdb @unionkcGA @GAcademyLeague @ImCollegeSoccer @ImYouthSoccer @TopDrawerSoccer @travismclark @PrepSoccer @JREskilson @TheSoccerWire @Internespo @HSSoccerKC @staleysoccer @staleysoccerfan @johnny_chain @AlexDrambour

@proctorzt @Dagan346 @jtbatson Entire different conversation when it comes to youth develop in our country. Not enough 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3s from 6-12 yrs old. More dribbling at a young age and less robotic passing patterns.

@johnny_chain @Dagan346 @jtbatson I appreciate this conversation though. I saw it first hand. I went to a school where the roster was about 30% euro. I had to red shirt after being a high school all-star. But by year 3, I was so good that I got to go to Europe and play. Our practices were harder than our games.

The goal isn’t to rewrite college soccer, it’s to renew it. We have a tremendous opportunity to make college soccer the best U-23 league in the world, strengthening development for both our Men’s and Women’s National Teams. It’s one of our country’s unique advantages and a vital part of how we’ll keep developing world-class players.

The NextGen White Paper, developed over the past year with input from college athletic directors, coaches, players, professional league executives, and governance leaders, provides a roadmap to align college soccer with today’s rapidly changing athletic and professional landscape. 📰 ussoc.cr/a39750

@johnny_chain @Dagan346 @jtbatson In my opinion, the problem is that Americans at 18-19 years old are underdeveloped. Which is a problem that starts well before college. So restricting the game, and lowering the level, doesn’t actually solve the problem that’s hindering the growth of the game in America.

@proctorzt @Dagan346 @jtbatson I see your point on those players raising the level of play and agree it can be beneficial for the young American but the American player isn’t getting a chance to play because there is no limit at this time. Need an age limit or restriction on how many internationals can play.

@johnny_chain @Dagan346 @jtbatson Okay Let’s say we limit int’l players. If the 18-21 year olds aren’t playing against better competition day in and day out in practice, are they ever going to get to the level of a 23 year old euro?

@proctorzt @Dagan346 @jtbatson In many situations yes, they are better but also 5-7 years older with professional playing experience. The 18-21 American player doesn’t have a chance to be better because they’re never given the opportunity to grow and develop.

This is the type of holistic, forward thinking that needs to happen outside of the NCAA with every college sport And with the involvement of national governing bodies, just like US Soccer is involved here. Each sport needs to chart its own path.

News: a U.S. Soccer-led committee proposes a shake-up of college soccer. The recommended men's model would override current conferences, include a version of pro/rel, and extend the season fall-spring. Spoke with Cindy Parlow Cone, JT Batson + others: nytimes.com/athletic/67218…

@jtbatson It may be 34% of the rosters are international but I would be curious to know what the percentage is of players who are actually receiving minutes.

@jtbatson You have to get the age and international representation fixed if you want to grow the American game. Not sure I can agree with 34% as the percentage of international players at the D1 level. I believe it's closer to 34% are American players and 65% International.
