Kabataan Partylist affirms its commitment to justice, accountability, and care in light of a concluded sexual misconduct case involving one of our own. The perpetrator has been expelled, and concrete actions have been taken to support the survivor and improve our systems. We know these steps are just the beginning. The grief, anger, and questions raised by our members, supporters, and the public in light of a recently concluded case of sexual misconduct involving one of our own are deeply felt—and we understand where they are coming from. Long before this issue reached public attention, we had already begun a survivor-centered process grounded in our commitment to collective care and accountability. Guided by our Constitution and By-Laws, the National Executive Committee (NEC) undertook a careful and deliberate investigation. Given this, the NEC, through its Investigation Team, found sufficient cause to hold the accused perpetrator accountable for conduct that is unbecoming of a Kabataan Partylist member and is gravely violative of the organization’s standards in upholding human dignity, political conduct and collective discipline. As one of the resolutions of the NEC, the said individual has been expelled from the organization effective immediately. Aside from the sanctions imposed on the accused member, Kabataan Partylist—in line with its ardent commitment to ensuring the welfare of the survivor—has also taken the following measures: - The NEC initiated a formal complaint with consent of the victim-survivor immediately upon initial disclosure mid-April 2025; Upon first report of the incident the perpetrator was barred from activities and premises of Kabataan to secure the aggrieved. - Kabataan provided psychosocial support via mental health consultations and other emotional and organizational support such as having constant buddies to the complainant throughout the process; Meanwhile, the option of assistance for legal case filing was also offered to the aggrieved. - The perpetrator was placed under preventive suspension as a temporary measure to protect the integrity of the investigation process and the welfare of the members, especially the survivor. This was not the final disciplinary penalty for the incident nor was it the final resolution to the case. The organization continues to extend assistance to the survivor and remains resolute in supporting the pursuit of further legal remedies as desired by the survivor beyond the organization’s jurisdiction. - Additionally, as a Partylist representing the youth, we have and will continue to extend assistance to the aggrieved in the two other previously circulated cases referenced online which, contrary to some reports, involved separate formations and accused individuals outside our organization.
