$8,492 in 20 hours between today and Sunday.
At the same time, I knocked out $36 k in estimates. Most are already signed.
I’ve been working with my head down lately. Fighting rain, putting out fires, and working every waking hour to keep the momentum.
Things are great, but I have to ask:
When does the feeling that it’s all about to fall apart actually go away?

I am raising all of my kids with one main north star:
They will work for my companies and be great stewards of capital, leaders and decision makers.
They'll take them over eventually.
What else is the point?
All businesses in the not so distant past were family businesses by design.
And I think that is great.

If you haven't had a "wow, that was wildly impressive" moment with AI yet, I don't know how. It's certainly not perfect, and it frequently needs tweaks and refactors, but I've had truly goosebump-worthy results when it practically one shots a new feature.

That reads a tasks file I have, it picks an item to work on, implements it, commits, and then repeats.
It's incredibly cool.

I think this is a sentiment that almost every developer can relate to. But also - it is what it is...
I still apply my dev skills and learnings every day. I just no longer *have* to write every if statement by hand.

I am not sure if other developers feel like this. But I feel kinda depressed. Like everyone else, I have been using Claude code (for a while, it’s not a recent thing lol). And it’s incredible. I have never found coding more fun. The stuff you can do and the speed you can do it at now. Is absolutely insane. And I’m using it to ship a lot. And solve customer problems faster. So all around it’s a win. But at the same time. The skill I spent 10,000s of hours getting good at. Programming. The thing I spent most of my life getting good at. Is becoming a full commodity extremely quickly. As much fun as it is. And as much as I like using the tools. There’s something disheartening about the thing you spent most of your life getting good at. Now being mostly useless.

I personally don’t use TikTok, but I’d also say I don’t watch much long form video anymore, probably because I can get concise, accurate information on precisely what I’m looking for from ChatGPT or Claude.
Also, general learning content (outside of Laracasts) just sucks these days it seems. I personally want to learn more about AI workflows and how people are using it, but there’s zero useful video on this subject. It’s all just more “todo list tutorial” level useless crap.

@jasonlbeggs Numbers are down for just about everyone I've spoken to. But I don't think that's due to TikTok.
Could be a few reasons. Probably AI is a huge factor. Another reason is saturation. There's endless educational content at this point. It wasn't that way 15 years ago.

I keep hearing that people don't watch long-form educational content anymore because of TikTok. It gets repeated over and over.
This makes no sense to me. When I want to sit down and learn something, TikTok is the last place I'd go.

Consumers are demanding so many features in modern cars that it would be almost impossible to have a physical button for everything.
Car maker Ineos tried this with their 2024 Grenadier and ended up like a 747 cockpit. Good luck finding the button you want while driving.
