@cybrtrkguy 3/3 So for example the door can have a can controller to manage the side view mirror, window, locks, airbag, lights, and any side looking sensors (2 data wires for the canbus) and a 48V power feed. 4 connections for a door versus dozens in competing brands. Everything talks.
English

@cybrtrkguy 2/3 Then add the fact that Tesla puts a controller in everything so it can be controlled over the CANbus means less discrete control wiring. Most new vehicles also do this - for example engine, transmission, dash instruments, climate control, entertainment are all CANBus.

You know how cars have huge wiring harnesses?
That's because each component needs its own set of wires, connected to the central ECUs, in order to function.
Every speaker, every switch, every sensor, every actuator, every button.
Tesla threw out that entire system for Cybertruck.
Instead, they're running gigabit ethernet cabling with a 48v power + data CAN bus to every component— all on the same cable.
Instead of running one wiring harness to the driver door speaker, and another to the driver's door window motor, they can daisy-chain them together on the same self-contained cable interface. Your computer could connect to your door handle using the *same* wire that's already been through your speaker, window, ambient lights, and steering wheel.
Each of those devices/components listen to the continuous stream of data for a command relevant to its operation.
By doing this,Tesla was able to reduce the total wiring in the Cybertruck by 77%, using 1/2 the copper.
Don't sleep on Tesla.

@KurtSchlichter Life lesson #1 - always be on time (which means planning to be early to have a buffer to deal with unforeseen issues).

We had an Ivy League student show up wanting to be a law clerk. She was late to the first interview, but we chalked it up to the parking situation because it is actually is kind of puzzling. Then she was late to the second interview. My partner met her at the door and told her to leave. She was stunned and offended. Apparently no one had ever told her no before.
None of my lawyers are Ivy League and I will put them up against anybody, and do put them up against anybody, and we win.
PoIiMath@politicalmath
This is also how I would hire And, in fact, this is how my company is hiring In the last 15 years, the growing perception is that the drama-to-value ratio for Ivy grads isn't worth it

@KobeissiLetter This story is deceptive as all that's been announced is GS is existing the consumer business - Apple has not announced it is closing the Apple Card and Apple Savings services.
English

BREAKING: Apple is shutting down its credit card partnership with Goldman Sachs.
According to WSJ, the contract will be terminated within the next 12 to 15 months.
The exit will cover their ENTIRE consumer partnership which began in 2019.
This includes shutting down the savings account program that started this year.
Their partnership was supposed to run through 2029.
A rare failure from Apple.

@OlaRollen I was lucky enough to get a tour of the NYSE in January when they allow limited tours (due to low volumes). It was totally amazing - the dollars flowing during low volumes was astounding.

@OlaRollen Makes sense - February 2020 is when they stopped most flights out of NA overseas as did most countries.

@ashleevance I was just in Sf for a few days holidays and remarkable how bad it's become. Getting up for a early morning walk and seeing emergency responders dealing with the overdoses overnight right in front of Fishermans Grotto - middle of tourist area - was really sad.
