I used to be a federalist. I used to believe in Canada. I love what Canada once was. On the wall in my office is my Canadian Armed Forces Officer Commissioning Scroll, and a copy of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. But the Canada of today is not the Canada I grew up in. It is no longer the nation I stood up for. Canadians rights have been disregarded. Democracy has become just a byword, not what citizens can expect and aspire to without a fight. Ideology has replaced equality and justice. Families are under attack. Over the past year I have examined the facts. I stepped back to self examine my own biases. I looked behind the curtain of the Canadian government press releases and media "reporting". What I found was a broken nation, its heart and soul gone, its character reduced to identity politics and forced unequal wealth redistribution. Scandals. Dishonesty. Empathetic suicide. Self destructive economic policies. In my recent advocacy for an Alberta referendum to give everyone a voice, I have been slandered, attacked, threatened, and received such vulgar responses from federalists that it is truly shocking and heartbreaking. But seeing how far Canada has fallen, it is not surprising. It validates the point that the Canadian experiment has failed. Today my Canadian Armed Forces Officer Commissioning Scroll, and a copy of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms are still on my office wall as a historical record. Today I support Alberta Independence. Today I grieve a lost and destroyed Canada. I miss what Canada once was, but it is time to dust ourselves off, stand up again, and move forward. On October 19th, vote for a brighter future. Vote for Option 2.

In many cases, Canada established diplomatic relations, provided assistance and supported the new country’s development. Canada did not refuse to recognize them because they were too small. Canada did not tell them they could never establish institutions, negotiate trade agreements, operate a government or participate in the international community. Canada did not make recognition conditional on proving that independence would be effortless, risk-free or immediately profitable. Their people made a democratic choice and Canada accepted the resulting countries. But when the same question is raised inside Canada, the language suddenly changes. 🇨🇦 Quebec, 1980 More than 1.48 million Quebecers voted for a mandate to negotiate sovereignty-association. Canadians and federal political leaders mobilized to preserve Canada, and the proposal was defeated. 🇨🇦 Quebec, 1995 More than 2.3 million Quebecers voted for sovereignty. Once again, Quebecers were warned about money, trade, investment, currency, pensions and whether Quebec could afford to become a country. 🇨🇦 Alberta, 2026 Albertans are not being asked to immediately declare independence on October 19th. They are being asked whether Alberta should remain a province or whether the Alberta government should begin the legal process required to hold a future binding referendum on separation. It is a vote about whether Albertans should be allowed to take the next democratic step. Yet many Canadians are already saying Alberta could never afford independence, could never build a country and should not even seriously consider sovereignty. That exposes a remarkable double standard: When people overseas seek sovereignty, it is called self-determination. When Quebecers seek sovereignty, it is called a threat to national unity. When Albertans seek a democratic vote, it is called reckless, divisive or impossible. The new countries on this list did not all begin wealthy, stable or free from uncertainty. Independence required difficult negotiations, institution-building and major decisions about trade, borders, laws, currency and international relations. But they created sovereign countries. Quebec and Alberta are repeatedly told they could not afford to become countries. Yet Canada recognizes countries around the world that began with fewer resources, weaker institutions and far greater obstacles. The honest position should be consistent: Either people have the democratic right to consider and pursue sovereignty—or they do not. That principle should not disappear simply because the people seeking the vote happen to live inside Canada.

🚨When will Canadian journalists do their job? A little digging and there is a lot more context. He is not the Nemaska Chief, he is a "Proxy Chief". As residents of Quebec, the Nemaska First Nation have voted in referendums that they now try to deny to Albertan citizens. The Nemaska First Nation is in the process of negotiating a Self-Government Agreement with Canada. They want self-determination but they advocate against others having self-determination. The Nemaska First Nation has a registered population of 800. According to the Canada Spends database, the Nemaska First Nation financials were no longer publicly available. According to another database, the Nemaska First Nation has received $100,591,272.40 from the Federal Government. That is a lot of money to motivate a proxy to advocate against something they themselves are trying to achieve; Independence from Canada. Maybe the headline should be updated; "Another grifter paid by the Federal Government to make a hypocritical statement against democracy in Alberta."

Alberta citizen are not responding to polls, but they are putting their money where there mouth is and voting with their wallets! Registered advertisers advocating for Alberta Independence have outraised their federalist rivals by more than $365,000 with three months to go before the Oct. 19 referendum. This gap will continue to grow.

This is @DaneLloydMP, I ran against him in the last federal election. He did not show up to any debates. He ran on gun rights, and did nothing. He helped shutdown an event by supporting the removal of funding from a public venue. It worked. He lied about it in an email and defamed me. Dane is turning his back on the 50,000+ voters of one of the most grassroots riding in Canada. IMHO, he was chosen for this role because Parkland is the most vocal about sovereignty. Dane, are you interested in having a public debate? We are all waiting on a reason why Alberta should stay.
