@RevNFidel @740Vol uhh yes tennessee fans want what's good for tennessee? however, i do think another year in college would benefit NA, too. as unlikely as it is for him to return, i find it more unlikely for him to go to a different school where the family isn't comfortable

@Jon__Reed @740Vol Certainly. He could continue and has chosen UT.... but when NA was recruited here, it certainly was admist the consideration of other schools, which is what the current "NA needs to stay in NCAA" discourse is missing. Vol fans want NA to stay b/c its good for UT.

@Jon__Reed That has nothing to do with what I said 😆 yes max players make more than role players. But whether ament ends up being a star or a role player, he’ll make more money in his career the sooner he gets to his second conract

@MarionFrancisII since you disappeared, i found an easy comparison for you to dispell how wrong you are 2009- Blake Griffin played 13 years and made 258 million 2009- Taj Gibson is still playing and has made 95 million

@MarionFrancisII ok, go and look up the total contract of the tenth pick last year vs the first overall pick. then go and find the rookie supermax given to franchise cornerstones versus normal rookie extensions

@RevNFidel @740Vol yes.......... and you could've/would've said the same thing last year before he committed here, no?

@Jon__Reed @740Vol The reality is there would be better money/coaching/platforms than UT for NA, certainly UT could be a potential landing spot, but lets be honest for a second, Vol fans arent even considering a scenario that NA returns to NCAA if it isnt to play for the Vols.

@MarionFrancisII because the way the nba doesn't prioritize rookies out of the top 10. top 5 picks get more room to grow and double the contract. that's without even getting into NIL and endorsements. Getting drafted later= higher chance of just being a role player at best

@Jon__Reed But why? It’s not speculation, he will 100% make less money if he comes back. Now if you tell me he’s gonna fall out of the first round, that’d be a different story. But getting to tha second contract as soon as possible is key. He’d lose potentially $100 million in his career.

@740Vol @Jon__Reed If we are truly having an honest discussion about the merits of NA staying in NCAA and skipping the draft, then there would be discussion about what NCAA transfer opps that would bring more money and better opportunity than UT does. But we arent.... so... hes probably gone.

@Jon__Reed @TurboOrange6 Wrong. He’d basically be trading his last year in the NBA for another year in college. Let’s say he plays til hes 35. Coming back means he’d play 15 years instead of 16, and that year hes losing would be on a non rookie contract. In 15 years nba maxes might be $100 million/yr

@MarionFrancisII It he’s top 6 he should go. If he’s 10th or later, he should come back imo

@Jon__Reed Bro I hope so, but if he’s top 6 and he comes back, he’d be losing 10’s of millions of dollars.

@jwiggin1 I think that’s the case in the nfl for sure. I think that’s so overblown for the nba personally.

@Jon__Reed Could be wrong here. But an agent is going to pitch that it’s not about going top 6 vs what you can get at TN next year. It’s usually about getting your extensions the quickest in the nba. You stay another year you delay those big extensions. That’s usually the discussion.

@NickDavisK If he had a good year he could easily go top 5 (at least)…. He really should just look at what Blake Griffin did

@Jon__Reed It's early and I'm not much of an NBA person, but seems like next year's draft class isn't as loaded? Another really good year in college (and putting some more size) and he would for sure be a lottery pick on top of another full year of sweet NIL deals

@the7maxims the downside to landing with a better organization later in the draft is that you just aren't a priority at all. You have to be ready to play and contribute or else you may find yourself fighting to staying in the league (e.g. Dalton Knecht)

Basilio has me amped up for 26-27 Tennessee basketball, but this is what I’m thinking… If Ament is actually slipping on mock draft boards, is that the worst thing ever for him? It means he has a chance to land with a better organization like the Spurs or the Celtics. 1/2

New Tennessee commit Jalen Haralson is an impressive athlete and great finisher around the rim 🍊 The former five-star recruit went 104/148 inside the restricted area this past season including this SportsCenter Top-10 poster. Another valuable portal addition for the #Vols

@Jon__Reed If he falls out of the top ten and elevates his status to top 5 next year he’ll make more money staying. And physically be ready to make a bigger impact his rookie year coming back and getting his body right 🙏
