Can't remember Chelsea having a manager who was so clearly not good enough but also one who I wish the best for. Hope he smashes it elsewhere. Was put in an impossible situation and clearly wanted to succeed. We must not forget who is to blame for the continuing mess.

I feel for him because he shouldn't be in this position. But Liam Rosenior has absolutely got to go, and he has to go tonight. He is so far out of his depth it's embarrassing for all involved.

@Laus1507 It's not his fault though really is it? As soon as he went to Strasbourg this was eventually going to happen, and what is he meant to say when, effectively, his boss tells him he has to move to another club? Imo he's not up to it, but I hope I'm wrong and wish him well.

@jon_radcliffe93 nah man im way beyond that Rosenior criticism or telling him to shut up isn’t because of his person or even as a manager, it’s purely because he’s nothing but a good boy mouth piece for the higher ups and i can’t stand it

@AdamRamsay He's a fantastic writer in the traditional sense. Unfortunately, he chooses to use his ability by penning negative, sensationalist articles in a condescending tone - which I can only assume is deliberate given his aforementioned writing skills.

Jonathan Liew was a student journalist at Edinburgh when I was there, and he’s been producing sizzling, sometimes beautiful, often hilarious copy for twenty years. “By Jonathan Liew” has long been a reason I’ve read something.

“Nothing good has ever followed the words ‘we need to talk’, ‘terms of service update’, or ‘by Jonathan Liew’.” I’ve written about Gail’s and THAT Guardian column for the @spectator. spectator.com/article/the-re…

@vcatalina96 You are all missing the point that the 50+1 rule prevents a multi-billionaire owner from coming in and making a team a powerhouse. Lars Windhorst invested, but could not make many decisions because he couldn't control over 50% of the voting shares - and he hardly worked anyway.

Theoretically, yes. But I lived there and people in Berlin, yes, they love football. But it’s not as religious as in other German cities. And it’s completely logical as well. They don’t have a winning heritage to build a fanbase upon. Last time a Berlin team won the German championship was Hertha in 1931 (!). A Berlin team never won the Pokal, despite the final being annually played there. Berlin has some interesting historic rivalries (Hertha vs. Union/Union vs. BFC Dynamo). But it’s not a place from which to dominate German football, like England has with London and Spain with Madrid.
Callum 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿@CalOnBundesliga

@fiago7 @cfcjoe1888__ There's got to be someone who understands German football fan culture, has alot of money and wants to own a football club surely... Hertha are the perfect club to become a power house in German football

@OliverKay @danielstorey85 I can see what you mean - it was definitely bizarre how abruptly his England career came to an end - but even medium term suggests it was only a matter of time before he was replaced. Either way, Pickford is quality and deserves far more credit than he gets.

@jon_radcliffe93 @danielstorey85 Yeah. Agree. I tried to explain myself here x.com/OliverKay/stat… and it was more based on the fact that it ended up more a lot shorter than the long-term bet he looked like. But I should have said medium term, not short term. I'll delete it because it's jarring
Oliver Kay@OliverKay

@Dan_B94 Short-term does him a disservice. He was first choice for seven years (2010 to 2017) — which is brilliant, obviously — but I don't think anyone ever imagined he would lose his place at 30 and never feature in the squad again. So I'll say medium-term rather than short-term

Jordan Pickford’s consistent excellence is still a little overlooked, I reckon. This year he will likely become the longest-serving undisputed England No. 1 in history. He’s been at peak performance for almost half a decade. Column. inews.co.uk/sport/football…

I don't know where we go from here. There is such a lack of standards and discipline at the club that has nothing to do with Rosenior. Seven red cards in 28 games - in the league alone - is embarrassing, and you can't really argue with any of them.

@SeanDOlfc Conceding four goals against Leicester when with 11th-placed Southampton at the age of 25 doesn't really stack up to a player who had already captained the greatest defence in PL history to the title at the age of 24-and-a-half.

@SeanDOlfc The thing, if we are determining whether a player is objectively top quality or not, you are right, it doesn't. Van Dijk is top quality. But we are comparing the very best of the best here and discussing who is greater.

This playing in Scotland thing is just ridiculous. He was a foreign player on a journey. That absolute caveman Vidic was playing for Spartak Moscow at 26. Thiago Silva was still in Brazil at 25.

@footballontnt This is incorrect? Both Chelsea and Manchester United have played in Kazakhstan, which is over 4,000 miles one way for both teams.

@henrywinter You mean 500 goals, not appearances - a number which he has long since reached. Would have just put it down to a typo if the whole post hadn't clearly been about appearances.

English football has not had many better role models than Harry Kane. Latest landmark: 500 professional appearances. The model of dedication, marginal gains, constant development, relentless amassing of goals. Embodies the power of persistence, overcoming doubts and adversity. First game, Jan 15, 2011: Kane, on loan from Spurs, came on for Scott McGleish for Orient at Rochdale - Brian Barry-Murphy and Craig Dawson in opposition. Rhianna featuring Drake was at No 1 with “What's My Name?”. “The King’s Speech” was No 1 film. Kane’s enjoying an amazing, record-breaking career – and the best may be yet to come. #ENG #FCBayern

@SunChelsea What?!?!? Fernández was absolutely magnificent yesterday, and if Palmer doesn't somehow tap over from 2 yards he comes away with two goals and an assist. Palmer's issues yesterday were of his own making, he was in the right positions. Did you even watch the game?

Chelsea should not have been awarded a penalty for handball in their 3-1 win at Crystal Palace last month. It was awarded after a VAR review. The Premier League's Key Match Incidents Panel voted 5-0 that the on-field call of no pen was correct. 👇 bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

All right on the night for West Ham. Bowen and Wan-Bissaka destroying Chelsea down the right. First goal was good. Second was outstanding. Counter-attack launched by Todibo, great first touch by Bowen, Wan-Bissaka cutback, ruthless finish by Summerville. Chelsea poor, and not just on their left. Short of leaders to rally them (James on bench). Flurry of boos at half-time. Change of mood and personnel - Cucurella surely comes on - needed for second half #CHEWHU

If we had Mourinho for the 1st half and Rosenior for the second, we'd win the league. Up the Chels.
