When I announced my campaign 7 weeks ago, I was so excited to finally share my plan for a safer & better LA with all of you. From being the first DDA to speak out about George Gascón’s dangerous “day 1” directives & standing up to his failed leadership, it’s been quite a journey for my family & me. I’ve been all over the county from San Dimas to Lancaster, listening & meeting so many of you. And all of you have been right there with me. I thought now would be a good time to share with those of you who might be new to Team Hatami a little more about my story & what led me to step up and make this run for District Attorney. So much about what I stand for – what I believe in –where I came from, is all in this video. The support I’ve received in these weeks since kicking off my campaign has been humbling & inspiring. Thank you! I need you in this fight with me. Together, we’ll make Los Angeles safer for all of us. Visit JonathanHatami.com to donate TODAY! it will go a long way toward helping my campaign have the resources we’ll need to beat Gascón & his special interest donors.

Two facts that I believe are true regarding the current events in CA: (1) You cannot be a civil rights leader or any type of leader whatsoever if you abuse children and women. Leaders lead by example. Period. (2) You can support, stand with and show compassion for victims and survivors of crime even if you disagree with them politically, even if they didn’t file a police report and even if they didn’t tell anyone for decades.

In 2019, our Governor and our Legislature authorized $130 million in ongoing funding for the “Next Generation 911” (NG911) project to be overseen by Cal OES. Basically Cal OES was hired & authorized by our Governor & Legislature to upgrade (improve) our state 911 system from a landline base to an internet base system. Cal OES got approval to split our state 911 system into a regional model - California’s 911 system would be split into 4 parts with 4 different telecommunication companies running the system. Yesterday, after spending $450 million in taxpayer dollars - Cal OES said they no longer want to use the system. It doesn’t work. So sorry. Cal OES now wants 1 statewide system with just 1 telecommunication company. They refused to say how much more this will now cost us. They also refused to say if our 911 system is even safe. Legislator: Is the system operating properly? Is it safe? Cal OES: “I think the system is operating the way we experienced it.” Our elected leaders are straight up failures.
Ashley Zavala@ZavalaA

California lawmakers are facing pressure to do more oversight into the state's 911 system upgrades. Taxpayers already spent $450 million on a system Cal OES no longer wants to use. Cal OES had a tough time answering this question in hearing today: "Are we safe?"

So here’s what I would say about that: (1) The standard to convict anyone of any crime in our country is “beyond a reasonable doubt.” It’s the highest standard in the land. That requires more than just “he said, she said.” (2) Anyone in our country charged with a crime gets a jury of her/his peers. All 12 must agree for a conviction. (3) I’ve been doing this 20 yrs. I’ve never prosecuted an innocent person. And I never will. But does it happen? Yes. We are a human system. But if we can prove you lied, there are charges for that too. I fight for child victims everyday. It’s my job. It’s also what I believe God wants me to do. So I come to these things with that lense. I was also abused as a child. I stand with victims & survivors. I always will. But your point is well taken. I still believe we have the best country and the best system.

Standing up for victims and survivors and against any type of sexual assault should be universal. It’s not political! We ALL should be against anyone who sexually assaults, abuses, molests, rapes, or traffics vulnerable victims, especially children. This doesn’t just apply today … it should apply everyday! Therefore… If you support releasing these monsters when they turn 50, you are NOT supporting victims and survivors of sexual assault. This tweet is directed at the overwhelming majority of elected officials here in CA.

Ana - she was 13. He brought her into his office. He locked the door as he always did when he called her. He brought her onto his yoga mat. He kissed her and pulled her pants down. He told her not to tell anyone. He was 45. Debra - I was sexually abused for years. I was a girl. He was 40. Dolores Huerta - he drove me to a secluded grape field, parked the car and raped me. “Unfortunately, he used some of his great leadership to abuse women and children.” Believe victims! Believe survivors! Support them. They do matter. 🙏🏽

Fraud is deliberate and intentional acts of deception. Fraud harms everyone, especially young people, working families and the elderly. CA has a fraud hotline, an elder fraud hotline, all sorts of fraud reporting websites for victims, the Attorney General has a unit to prosecute fraud and most if not all local police and DA’s offices have specialized fraud units. The state of CA actually tells you to report fraud, especially Medi-Cal fraud. They have their own hotline which is even in 10 languages. However, there isn’t one site that says, “if you are an elected official of CA and someone exposes fraud, you should belittle and make fun of that person.” Be mad all you want that journalists are exposing fraud in CA. I am. We all are. But leaders fix things & improve our lives. They don’t blame the messenger. I have been the victim of ID theft and mail theft. Many of us have. It’s miserable. Not everything is political. Public safety is not.

Whistleblower in the CDCR states that they are being told by “supervisors” to not fully monitor parolees in our communities. “People are not safe at all. These parolees are left to rampage throughout the state.” When our own Legislature, Governor and local elected “leaders” value criminals over the rest of us and prioritize releasing dangerous criminals through elder parole and mental health diversion without proper statutory limits, safeguards or supervision, only innocent children, families and the rest of us suffer. You cannot say you support and prioritize public safety when you then turn around and vote for these dangerous bills, support & lie about harmful propositions, give money and endorsements to radical prosecutors or allow our innocent community & children to be used as a social experiment.
Ashley Zavala@ZavalaA

"People are not safe. These parolees are left to rampage throughout the state and more issues will occur." Whistleblower tells California Politics 360 CA's prison system is not properly tracking criminals out on parole. The state is facing litigation: kcra.com/article/former…

Again, the media doing the job of the State of CA, LA City and LA County (thank you Fox 11). The facts: LA City used $10.2 million in taxpayer money in 2020 to purchase a vacant 32-unit Ramada Inn to help with the homeless crisis. It only stayed open a little over a year for interim homeless housing and has since been vacant for almost 4 years. A non-profit was gifted the property by the City and the City has now spent almost $20 million total in taxpayer funds on this still vacant property. There is, however, a homeless encampment right near the vacant $20 million property that is supposed to house the homeless. Taxes continue to be increased, our city and county continue to ask for more money, and our failed leaders continue to get re-elected or just get elected to other positions even though CA has the most homeless veterans in the entire country.
Matthew Seedorff@MattSeedorff

NEW: A former Ramada Inn bought to quickly house people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles has now sat vacant for nearly 4 years. The cost has since climbed to about $20 million for what will be 32 units of supportive housing.

Any parent knows that financial pressures create tremendous stress in the life of a family. It pushes normally rational people to a point of being irrational and desperate. We need politicians in our state that support families instead of creating an environment that puts additional stress on people who are trying to do the right thing. Buying a home to provide a sanctuary for children should not be a near impossible goal in LA County.

In CA, taxes are higher and spending is higher over the last 8 years, but the results are even worse. And, CA state, LA city and LA county keep asking for more money while the same politicians state the same things and just jump from one elected position to another. Maybe instead of focusing on Trump or national issues that have very little to do with improving our daily lives here in LA, people will actually start researching who the good candidates are versus just their party affiliation. You can hate the other side all you want and push that hate out everyday, but it’s not actually making our schools, communities, living conditions, housing and employment opportunities, or safety any better. You can blame your political opponent for fraud, but unless we actually start investigating, arresting and prosecuting these fraudsters, only working families will suffer - the politicians can care less. Implementing plans, leading, fixing things and improving the safety and lives of our children really should be the goal of an elected leader no matter what party he or she belongs to.

@Lavinda_77 @SenValladares The CDCR, Newsom and the Legislature value money over safety. Period. They will release dangerous criminals in order to save money. That’s the agenda. It’s wrong and the only people who suffer are innocent Californians. Twisted priorities.

Wow! The Board of Parole Hearings says they followed “the process.” Process isn’t the issue. Judgment is. Commissioners take an oath to protect public safety — yet they voted to release a serial child rapist. Californians deserve accountability.
Eytan Wallace@EytanWallace

@CACorrections Statement (CDCR): “Commissioners for the Board of Parole Hearings take many factors into consideration when determining a candidate’s release suitability. This includes the Comprehensive Risk Assessment, the candidate’s central file, parole plans and impact statements. Please refer to the Parole Suitability Hearing Transcript for factors that led to the decision in this case.   Commissioners are appointed to three-year terms.” A few notes: •The Board of Parole Hearings conducts parole suitability hearings for people sentenced to indeterminate sentences (sentences of life with the possibility of parole) and people serving determinate terms as provided by California law. •These include people made eligible for earlier parole hearings under Youth Offender, Elderly Offender, and Non-Violent Offender laws enacted by the California legislature.   •CDCR does not determine who is entitled to a parole hearing — eligibility is set by the courts and Legislature, and sentences are imposed by judges. The Board of Parole Hearings is an independent Board that conducts suitability hearings at which they determine if an individual currently poses an unreasonable risk to public safety. Those found to pose an unreasonable risk are not released on parole.   •BPH works closely with Office of Survivor and Victim Services to ensure crime victims receive timely notice and support through BPH processes.

@Lavinda_77 @SenValladares Many sex crimes are considered “violent crimes” are the defendant is supposed to do 85% time with 15% good time. It’s right in the Penal Code. And again - Newsom and the CDCR are letting these sex offenders out on parole after doing 60% time.

The media is doing the job of the State of CA (thank you CBS) and uncovering hospice fraud. The findings: -Los Angeles County is ground zero in the nation for hospice fraud. -Since 2010, LA County has seen a 1500% increase in hospice companies which is more than 6x the national average relative to its elderly population. -About 42% of all the hospice companies in LA County have red flags for fraud. -89 hospice companies are operating in one building in Van Nuys. -When many of these companies were called, phone numbers don’t work, are disconnected, they go straight to voice mail, or no voice mail is set up. -A single person was listed as the “medical director” in 45 separate hospice companies in LA County. Bonta - “So to the citizens that remain frustrated, I understand, I share in your frustration.” Glad he shares in our frustrations. Maybe prosecute wrongdoers. Just saying. Fraud hurts all of us especially working families. Sadly - our state, county and city “leaders” continue to fail in actually leading and always operate in a reactive instead of proactive approach. Do better.
Bari Weiss@bariweiss

Incredible investigation today from @CBSNews. Our reporters visited "ground zero" for hospice fraud: Los Angeles, California. One building had 89 registered hospices . . . Read it here: cbsnews.com/projects/2026/…
