@johnsears @SoundOFF13 To each their own. If you show that clip to a random set of people - I think most would say that looked like a punch. Other angles show it wasn’t but this one does - IMO.

That was the most misleading sequence/scrum by the announcers I’ve ever witnessed, heard. The announcers should be embarrassed for saying Folgueiras threw a punch. Complete lie.

@JakeBrendTV As other have said it doesn’t work as well against better teams, especially teams with good guards as they just pass out if resulting in wide open 3’s or paint shots. I think they should put more emphasis on limiting dribble penetration to the lane as that is what kills us.

I know it’s lazy analysis but Iowa State’s success all comes down to playing their hearts out on defense and forcing turnovers. The trap defense works but there has to be a desperation element to it. Iowa State is GREAT when they can speed up teams like this.

@khaal53 It’s that but I think the most important thing is limiting dribble penetration. We often pressure 30 feet from the basket and get beat. When that happens teams pass/skip pass and get wide open paint looks or 3’s. Just kills momentum.

A consistent commitment to ball pressure and denying passing lanes helps

If I’m on Iowa State I’m taking pride in being the guy to get this team going. I refuse to lose 3 in a row to end the year and two in a row at home if I’m a player. Who is going to be that guy though?

@cyclonefanatic TJ got to look in the mirror as once he again he refuses to call a timeout during a big run by the opponent. Just awful coaching. Got to do more than just wave your arms up and down on the sideline.

What a turn of events to end the half. Arizona State goes on a 10-0 run fueled by 3 ISU turnovers and leads the Cyclones, 41-37, at halftime on Senior Day. Gut check time for ISU, which really melted down there.

@Cade4ISU From an objective standpoint, both offense and defense philosophies need to be re-visited in the offseason. Defense doesn’t work against athletic teams with good guards and results in a lot of open 3’s and dunks. Offense needs guards who can create off the dribble and SHOOT.

First media timeout and Milan hasn’t shot the ball yet. I just don’t understand how getting him looks is not a priority. On him and the staff. Seems like they both get complacent and he just becomes a decoy out there.

Iowa has to be the worst team in the country in unconstested 3 point shots. Its remarkable for D1 guards. BMC so elite plays and actions.

@HoopieHighway @KyleGAdema TJ’s teams have always struggled to score in the half court - maybe he needs to re think how and who he recruits and his overall offensive strategy. Need guards who can create their own shot AND shoot.

@KyleGAdema I think It’s just trying to force turnovers and score that way to make up for lack of halfcourt offense. Almost all of this teams points come from turnovers, O boards, or fts. They’re not very good in the halfcourt they don’t have shot makers like Curtis jones this year.

Seriously, the trapping defense is absolutely killing Iowa State basketball. It’s great against inferior opponents but good teams dismantle it beyond the arc. It’ll get ISU knocked out of the NCAA Tournament.
