I needed groceries today and almost went to @FoodLion because it's close by, but then I remembered the company still hasn't fulfilled its promise to stop confining pigs and chickens in cages so small they can barely move. So I went elsewhere, and will continue to do so.

The grocery chain @FoodLion lied to its customers, saying that it would stop its suppliers' practice of confining mother pigs and hens used for eggs in cages so small the animals can barely move. We'll keep protesting until the company does the right thing.

Can you even imagine an entire life spent suffering in an overcrowded, filthy, and tiny cage? 💔 Shame on @CruiseNorwegian for not caring about the hens that lay their eggs!

Two weeks ago Brooke Rollins sparked outrage by pledging to help wipe out state anti-cruelty laws. This week the Senate Ag Committee *unanimously* approved her. Today the Senate will likely confirm her. A great week for pork industry lobbyists. A terrible week for pigs.

As a North Carolina voter (Chatham Co.) I'm counting on @SenThomTillis to speak out when POTUS violates the Constitution. That's not "bellyaching" - that's upholding the senator's oath.

@SpencrGreenberg I don't disagree with any of this, which is why I've been vegetarian since 2008 (I was 12) and vegan since 2015 (I was 18). Now I work at @TheHumaneLeague and spend some of my free time doing grassroots activism (protests against companies using battery cages, leafleting, etc).

Step 14: The majority of Americans are acting immorally with their current purchasing regarding pork and eggs, but most could switch their behavior without excessive difficulty to be more ethical (e.g., by adopting an egg-free vegetarian diet, or avoiding factory farms)

@erikkain @Forbes Just found and read your review, and I agree! Arcane is still my favorite show of all time, but Season 2 (and especially Part II) is moving WAY too fast for my liking. Slow it down! Makes no sense to me why Caitlyn would suddenly betray Ambessa for Vi.

@alistair___s I can't DM you so I'll comment here: Thank you for sharing this! I looked into the Liberation Pledge last night. I have been thinking for a while of not joining any meals where others are eating meat, and seeing your tweets and reflecting on it made me finally commit to it.

2/4 Singer seems to be sympathetic to the Liberation Pledge (roughly, "refuse to sit at tables where animals' bodies are being consumed"), a boycott tactic inspired by 19th century campaigners against footbinding in China. Very cool. liberationpledge.com

Only 4 weeks until the election! Fur sales have been banned in Boulder, Sao Paulo, Hallandale Beach, and many other cities. Denver has the opportunity to join by voting YES to ban fur. Let’s leave this cruel industry in the past where it belongs.

Lobsters, crabs, and crayfishes are commonly boiled or steamed to death. These animals aren't able to go into shock, so they feel excruciating pain for their final 30-45 seconds of life—sometimes even longer. Do we really think this is acceptable? #NationalLobsterDay

The pork industry thinks it's too costly to provide... - Pain relief for piglets during castration. Cost: 5 cents per animal, using Meloxicam for Livestock. - Enough space for pregnant sows to turn around. Cost: 6 cents per sow per day, per U. of Illinois analysis. - Straw for grower pigs to chew and sleep on. Cost: 1-7 cents per pig per day, depending on local cost of straw. So much cruelty to save so little money.
