This is exactly the problem, especially on the left. To be a good person you have to embody an entire set of prescribed views. But as the boundaries between left/center/right have become porous, it's turned into an amorphous miasmic formula that relies more on tone and word choice and reputation than anything else. This is how leftists who've never read The Free Press and couldn't name a single columnist are melting down over a pro-choice, pro-gay-marriage lesbian with classic old-school journalistic values becoming editor-in-chief at a major network.
