Congratulations to my friend Jon Hardesty on winning the 2025 PGA Kentucky Section Teacher of the Year Award today. It is greatly deserved! Jon - in my opinion - is the spark that ignited the search for scientific, evidence based explanations of the golf swing during some “unscientific” times. He said in 2007 - “the science is out there.” And, oh boy, was he right. That one statement led to initial calls to Steven Nesbit, Aaron Zick, Sasho MacKenzie, Rob Neal, Young-Hoo Kwon, Mike Duffey, Paul Wood, Erik Henrickson, Art Maffei, Mark Broadie, Phil Cheetham, Bob Grober, Dieter Olson, Fredrik Tuxen, Dave Tutelman, and many others. Jon pushed the industry in the direction it desperately needed to be pushed. The Search For The Perfect Swing (1968) was a great start - but, the first phone call to Steven Nesbit in 2008 was the beginning of discovering the immense researcher talent across the spectrum of disciplines. The golf instruction industry thanks you, Jon…without your curiosity, we might still be twisting in the wind.

Without tracking, I could not have told you I had a Left direction bias. I went from a Stack putting session to some block practice and quickly cleaned this up.

It was not long ago that golfers, golf media, & club fitters thought you had to choose between low (optimal) spin and stability (pareto optimality) This trade-off has been broken. The definition of innovation. The proof is.....right here.

No. 1 in Napa. 💯 The G430 LST is the most played driver model this week at the @FortinetChamp. AND, with 44 in play, the G430 MAX is the most played fairway wood model. #PlayYourBest

Friction is a strange and wonderful topic and it very much matters in golf. For moisture you can also read “grass” and you have more partial wedge shots in longer grass than not. Make sure your wedge has great spin in non-ideal conditions!

6 different wedges. 50 yard shot. Single digit handicap. Condition - dry club face for each shot, moisture on the golf ball and ground surface. 12 shots each golf wedge. Your equipment matters. Spot the differential. @MyGolfSpy

When it comes to your lowest lofted fwy wood, most fitters don't know what's optimal....or possible. Fitters: PING Co-Pilot is here to help. We've added Fairway Wood Launch Efficiency (Beta) to help optimize your golfers fairway wood - specific to their goals, weather, altitude, model, and impact location 🧠 Check it out pingcopilot.com

Wind has a significant effect on offline dispersion. In this example, for a PGA Tour 7-iron, offline dispersion changes by ~10% for each 10 mph change in wind speed

Tired of fliers? We test for spin in both wet and dry conditions. On wedge shots, we've measured spin rate drops of over 40% on some balls, dropping from more than 10,000 RPM to 6,000 rpm, when friction is reduced through added moisture.
