Not everyday you drop kids at school & head to Border to welcome a dear friend (deported over decade ago) be reunited w/her daughter. Today was that day. A day we could have never imagined possible after years of crying, praying & advocating. Yolanda is home. Thx be to God!

School drop off: No parents should have palpable fear of “what if it’s our kids next?" Is it more important to protect the “freedom” of buying an AR15 or offering every parent in this country the freedom to send their kids to school without fearing they’ll return in a body bag?

Solo parenting week while wife is away for work conference. Two of our four kids (and me) have tested positive for Covid & are now in lock down. Wife left Tuesday morning & our kiddo was exposed later that day at school, so her departure was almost conspiracy level perfect. 🤔

I got gas next to a guy in a Ferrari convertible. We bumped into each other inside the gas station, and he asked me about my pants, which I make with my mom. I told him they are custom made. The guy in the Ferrari said, “I thought I was cool… until now.” True story.

Today, a project I’ve been working on for years is coming to life. I’m filled w/gratitude & anticipation. There will be no fanfare or promo. The details are done. It will simply require presence & vulnerability among a community on a journey toward wholeness together. A gift.

A few things about what's going on at Mexico/US border right now as Ukrainians flee war. 1. U.S. government is right to offer humanitarian visa's to Ukrainians. The Church is right to offer care & support. 2. That said, the racism inherent in our policy & empathy is very real.

Why does our (white church) empathy appear to be so much higher for migrants/refugees that look like us and share a common “enemy” (Russia)? This is the question on our partners in Tijuana are asking as they tend to the needs of people fleeing violence from all over the world.

@jonhuckins Indeed. If we cannot repent, we have no hope. As Barth said, we only ever know sin on the way out.

Question for folks who study #ChristianNationalism. If Putin’s misinfo about Ukraine is transparent to Americans who are often blinded by US culture wars, is there any hope that seeing how Putin uses faith to manipulate may help US Christians recognize similar tactics here?
