@TheFargoFella Right, but surely him just refusing to play players that have been signed by the club in good faith is unacceptable, no? With the way Osmond and JSP have been treated, I don't like our chances of picking up young players from England in future.

@TheFargoFella If the benchmark is "be more effective in a substitute appearance than Liam Scales at left back" I think that there's no question Inamura should be considered our backup left back. Considering he hasn't played the position before, I thought he looked very assured.

@StaceyDevlinx It's because BR hasn't put Inamura on the bench. Scales is both our first choice LCB and back up LB. For some reason. For someone who apparently loves to develop players, Brendan seems reluctant to give Inamura minutes.

@AndrewStoeten Stupid question: wouldn't these deals be structured in a similar way to the Ohtani deal to spread it over a longer period of time to reduce the short-term financial impact? So they can manipulate the annual value of the contract to ensure they still have payroll available?

Say hypothetically the Jays were in on Soto for $500M. They also would need to extend Vlad for at least $300M. That's $800M (simple math $70M-80M AAV for both) in future payroll committed. And then they'd need $$ to rebuild the bullpen + cover rest of the lineup holes. Not saying Rogers doesn't have the $$ but that would be some heavy lifting.
