I Just woke up from a nap and everybody is tweeting in German? 😭 I thought I was ging crazy for a sec but apparently X now auto-translates tweets according to your selected language. Great feature that everybody asked for. 👏

@jonkellerdev I don't like it either and I've been struggling to explain exactly why. Best I can figure it's because it looks like a bunch of generic fantasy models scattered on a landscape.

Crimson Desert might be the most fake looking video game yet. Like everything just seems 100% artificial and out of place, like it doesn't really exist in the game world. 3D artists please explain, because I can't quite pinpoint why I feel this way.

@Refract3d Yeah, the lighting definitely looks weird, but I was wondering why one might perceive it as weird. I feel like most things look like they're made out of clay, while other things look jarringly realistic. Might just hit the uncanny valley in a very unique way lol

@jonkellerdev You may be picking up on the game's unique lighting engine. Since this isn't UE5, i had read they use their own raytraced planar interpolation, and it behaves quite uniquely.

@jonkellerdev It might be because as artists ourselves, lack of world building and the consequential lack of coherence manifested in all the little details is easily discoverable by our "lack-of -grounded-ness radar", without us having to spell them out. IMHO it's evident if compare with KCD2.

@jonkellerdev I'm working on my first game, which will be a digging game! It's not *exactly* 4:3, but very close... have had to pause development due to studies, but will come back to it soon. Came from the 1-Bit Jam Really love the look of your artstyle! Is this a game in development?
