Welcome to 2026, Alex Makarewich! Here's a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 9th, go ahead and get ya' some.
And...HE DID!
Dude just absolutely obliterated the White Cap hitters and made a pretty good statement. In fact, his fastball has been making a statement for a while, especially when it touched 101 in Spring Training just a couple of weeks ago.
Of course, like a lot of power pitchers, it's about executing and being in the zone, and AMak POUNDED the zone. When your fastball is as explosive as his, your slider doesn't have to be awesome, although his can be very dirty, but he also threw in a couple of sneakers in the zone, too.
But, back to the fastball, the fastball that was dotted to get the 1st hitter, then the high rider to get the 2nd hitter on a K, were SIC. Then, the breaking ball to finish off the game was CURAZY!
I know a baseball can't actually rise, but his fastball would make you think differently. Incredible carry/ride/backspin, whatever you want to call it. And, at 97, which is what Makarewich was hitting tonight.
Atta Baby AMak was 97 tonight, so he's already got that right arm hot. #gopokes #okstate

One Shining Moment was written by Ann Arbor resident Michael Barrett. It was first played in 1989 when Michigan last won the title. 37 years later, his song ends with Michigan celebrating once more.
