I’ve been bringing my son along to my speaking engagements at inner-city elementary and high schools, where I share stories of resilience and ambition. Though he’s still very young, I hope this becomes a tradition—showing him my journey while inspiring others.

I am a super sub-specialist bc it lets me deliver better care to the patient I am seeing that moment. But we need generalists desperately. And we especially need to work as a team for all patients.

In med school, I was told that it takes 20 years for a discovery to become standard practice. I was in my 20s and so I thought that was an impossible relic of the past. Now I’m in my 40s. Less invasive thyroid treatments have been around for 25 yrs. Pts still don’t know.

GLP1s don’t cause thyroid cancer. Be careful with medullary, but that is rare. These meds are doing great things for people.

They did a study to find out which medical students make the best residents/trainees at the next level: grades, accolades, research, etc. The biggest predictor: team sports participation. To be a doc, you have to be a team player. (Insert joke here)

I would strongly encourage “leaders” in any medical field to express their often controversial views in public rather than just resort to tweeting about how excited or honored they are about some politically correct empty award or platitude of no significance whatsoever.

I am so frustrated with #Google When I left Hopkins, I mistakenly believed that I could move my address, phone number, etc to the new location. It has been 6 months, and Hopkins still pops up when you search my name. Google even denied my appeal?! Save me!!!

Transoral is definitely the preferred technique at most centers in the US currently, but the number of surgeons adequately trained is low. #AHNSchat

A3. RFA is growing in demand and has the potential to be a game changer for thyroid nodules. However the billing process in the US remains clumsy at best. It should eventually be managed by insurance like any other medically necessary procedure. #AHNSchat
