@jdflynn I feel you and Ed should set a positive example by albing on camera for the pod

The alb is the ordinary garment of the baptized. Here's what that means: Whatever else you think of girls in service at the altar, it's untenable to complain that they're wearing albs. Arguably we should all be albing all the time.

@zslayback Wonderful church. I’m in NY monthly and always go there for mass. St Patrick’s is convenient (especially to midtown) but not necessarily a great experience. Although it was fun when Cardinal Dolan would show up for the occasional 7am daily mass.

For any friends visiting NYC: St. Vincent Ferrer in the Upper East Side has a relic of Bl. Karl of Austria inside the church, on the north side.
Zak Slayback@zslayback

@growing_daniel They also have a relic of Bl. Karl there.

@growing_daniel @real_dreamr No it’s easy, I’ve been there on Ash Wednesday before. They run masses like every 30 minutes also have a walk through assembly line for people who just want ashes. It’s a little chaotic and crowded but still not difficult. Not the most reverent experience in manhattan.

@real_dreamr I sense it will be uncomfortably packed given the fact that they have to do a lottery for who can come on easter

@growing_daniel At Vincent Ferrer in the UES would be best. St Patrick’s cathedral will be fastest.

@emzanotti Cookie sales are also the reason our troop asks for $40 in dues, optional. Our son’s Cub Scout troop was $200 mandatory dues.

@emzanotti In Chicagoland troops get either 1.05 or 1.10 per box sold, it’s THE fundraiser for our Girl Scouts. It last just a few weeks, participation isn’t mandatory, and supports the adventures and activities our scouts do all year. Our girls have gotten a ton out of scouting. .

The total cookie sales for Girl Scouts is over $1B. CharGpT says that licensing is only $28M but that’s way underestimated — Girl Scouts now partner with major corporations to brand everything from coffee syrups to clothing. The take has to be in the billions, but local troops get…what? Camp? Maybe? It seems more active in the south than it was in Chicago, but still, they do a couple of weekend camps a summer. Parents pay for the long-stay camps. Even the uniforms aren’t free.
Brandi Koontz@bfkoontz

@emzanotti last I checked the troop earns $0.25 off each box sold. A quarter. Cookie sales is a total scam.

@bfkoontz @emzanotti This is totally inaccurate. It varies by council but in Chicagoland the rate is $1.05 per box (or 1.10 per box under certain conditions).

@canonlawyered Never would have known about them if not for your digression on Bond’s watches a few months ago. Effecting real change through the power of the written word!

@canonlawyered I am in London for work and tomorrow am heading out to find a CWC watch. I am a US Navy veteran (so their military history appeals to me) and total watch rookie. What would you recommend? I am also jet lagged as the timing of this tweet indicates.

@canonlawyered The RN81 it is! Love it. Their little shop in Mile End (inside Silvermans) was cool. Great people. Maybe will show it to you at the Chicago live event. Thanks!

Today, students at my high school in Chicago held an Anti-ICE protest. I was the only one that decided to hold a sign that said ‘I Love ICE’. Instead of allowing me to express my opinion, I was assaulted — Just for standing up for law enforcement. What is happening to America?
