So close! DC Code § 50–2201.28 says drivers must STOP for pedestrians.
It used to say yield, but the DC Council changed the law in 2005 after @DCPoliceDept testified that there "was an ambiguity about the definition of the word 'yield' with respect to the current law."

⚠️Drivers must Yield to Pedestrians in Crosswalks⚠️ MPD is enhancing Step Out enforcement: Traffic Safety Officers enter crosswalks to observe drivers who don’t yield. Failing to stop may mean a ticket! Yielding to pedestrians keeps our roads safe. #MPD #PedestrianSafetyMonth

Matt Gaetz? The only member of the House Republican conference who supported banning forced arbitration?

Lmao @bikeshare’s GPS is off and it automatically fined me for parking inside a no parking zone, except I definitely did not park where the pin is located. Great work.

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Felice Gaer Baran z"l — wife of Henryk, mother to Adam and Hugh, sister to Wendy and Arthur, and mother-in-law to Jacob — on Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Kind of wild that @postlocal has projected Brooke Pinto to win the DC Council seat but has not yet called Allister Chang to win the DC State Board of Education seat. Both candidates are unopposed and have the same electorate (ward 2), and neither race has reported results yet.

@czapary Thank you for your heart and dedication to the community!

Last call! It’s been an incredible two years. October marked my last month in the Mayor’s Office and I’m grateful to Mayor Bowser for giving me the opportunity to serve as the District’s Nightlife and Cultural Director, supporting our hospitality sector—the sector that makes this city a great place to live and visit. I’m proud of positioning the office as a responsive entry point for the industry and residents to interact with government.
The role deepened my understanding and love for D.C. in ways I couldn’t have imagined two years ago. It’s also given me a newfound appreciation for a solid pair of earplugs 😅
I’m also thankful to the D.C. Council for their confirmation of my appointment, as well as for the friendship, partnership, and support of many of the members and their staff.
Most of all, I’m grateful for the new friends I’ve made in government and the community along the way. There are too many to name, so I won’t even try for fear of leaving someone out. Working in and with government can be challenging, but know that there are incredible people who care deeply about this city and their communities and who work every day to make things better, both inside and outside of government. I will always cheer them on as a proud D.C. resident. I’m confident that our city’s best days are ahead.
As for me, I’m excited about what’s next. But for now, for the sake of all those wonderful D.C. government employees and us as D.C. residents—please go vote. Call your friends and family in other states and remind them to vote. 🗳️
As I close out this chapter, I can’t say thank you enough, so I’ll simply say it again: thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone.

Providing ✨a map✨ of closures is much better information than @DCPoliceTraffic’s typical format for announcing road closures, which just lists a bunch of streets
