@TeachesCompSci @ChrisPenn84 I teach all my CS (KS3 - KS4; KS5 will use their personal devices more often than the Pis) using Raspberry Pi computers. We have PiServer running to manage central file storage, logins and software deployment to the Pi computers.

@ChrisPenn84 We start on micro:bits and move to Pi. Only used Pi extra-curricularly but would love to use them to teach networks like @jonwitts does

Where schools sit with Pis and Microbits in 2023 I’m unsure ? It feels the latter has the better footfall and Pis are a distant memory. Maybe that’s just a personal perspective

Just realised: it's my 10 year Pinniversary. It was 10 years ago today that o received my first Raspberry Pi!

@ForrisHilier @recantha Granted, it takes a bit more setup and a network team willing to work with the CS teachers, but it is perfectly viable and makes for a great Computer Science lab...

@ForrisHilier @recantha With PiServer a school lab of Raspberry Pi works really well. Our students log onto the Pis with their network username and passwords, all work is saved to the network and backed up and internet access is filtered in just the same way as it is elsewhere.
