Most Shopify brands don’t have a “Google Ads problem.” They have a "Match" problem. They buy clicks from queries like: “best ” “ vs ” “does ____ work” “ for ____” Then they send everyone to the same damn product page. Google punishes that. Not because your category is cursed but because the keyword and the page are telling two different stories. Find → Match → Buy. Match means: each intent gets its own page. Best keywords → best-of page. Vs keywords → comparison page. Problem keywords → problem-aware advertorial. Competitor keywords → “us vs them” page. If your Google account is stuck on branded and retargeting with no cold conversions, this is usually why.

most ecom brands assume google ads = just bid on product terms. but here's the problem. if your product only has 20,000 monthly searches, you're capped before you even start. that's not enough inventory to build a real acquisition channel. so we tried something different with a pet supplement brand that had never touched google ads. instead of just bidding on the product name, we mapped out every medical condition and symptom the product could actually help with. then we built advertorial landing pages for each angle. basically we stopped asking "who's searching for us" and started asking "who's searching for solutions we can provide." that one shift took us from 20k monthly searches to 2400k+ addressable inventory. the other thing that mattered was being honest about tracking. first-click attribution only. 100% new customer rate in triple whale. no brand searches mixed in. no retargeting padding the numbers. every single conversion was a genuinely new subscriber we'd never seen before. went from $0 to $100k/month in new subscription revenue from google alone. the takeaway is pretty simple tbh. product terms aren't your ceiling. they're just the starting point. the real inventory is hiding in all the problems your product actually solves.
