Great energy at Dakota State University’s Research Week! Yesterday’s Research Symposium showcased outstanding student & faculty work, plus a keynote from Philip Niedermair, Chairman of the Technology Advancement Center Advisory Board.

It is spring break at Dakota State university this week. For those who are away from campus during that time, I hope you find moments of refreshment and relaxation. For those who will be with us during that week, may the slower pace bring moments of productivity.

At @SCSP_org's #EducationSummit in D.C. this week, I discussed AI preparedness and the shift from short-term moves to long-term strategy. DSU puts this into practice by prioritizing student engagement through research & competition.

I was joined at the AI+ Education Summit by Mike McKelvey, Steve Timms of Thermo Bond and the RH Strategc team. Afterwards we enjoyed time catching up over dinner. A great way to celebrate an interesting and invigorating day.

Today I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. France A. Cordova at the AI+ Education Summit hosted by SCSP. We discussed higher education in the age of AI and how universities must work with government, industry, and philanthropy to educate, innovate, and serve society.

I am in San Francisco this week attending the Open AI Education Summit. I’m looking forward to conversations on the inflection point of AI in education, and discussing how to improve learning through AI integration while mitigating risks.

This weekend we are welcoming teams from across SD for the 2025-26 Vex V5 Robotics State Tournament. Competitions like this represent far more than robots and rankings. They reflect curiosity, persistence, teamwork, and a willingness to tackle complex problems. @VEXRobotics

It’s the final weekend of regular season basketball for our Trojans, and I look forward to cheering for our DSU student-athletes against Dickinson State (Friday) and Bismarck State (Saturday). We’ll also honor our seniors and their families for the impact they’ve made as Trojans!

Over the past week, we’ve had wonderful opportunities to engage with our legislators through Madison and Sioux Falls visits to Pierre, and hosting a legislator brunch on campus alongside our Madison Chamber of Commerce partners. Thank you to those who have joined.
