This is the report in the @HeraldZimbabwe with a picture of me explaining to Local Government Minister Hon W Chitando regarding @CityofBulawayo critical water situation. I emphasized that we need the Nyamandlovu aquifer pumps to be rehabilitated urgently & for a short new pipeline to be constructed in part of the Mtshabezi to Umzingwane pipeline, both of which will significantly improve our water supply in the coming months. There are other matters which need to be addressed but these are the issues which can have an immediate positive impact on our water supply situation. I remain deeply concerned about the effects of El Niño and believe we need to plan for the worst possible scenario - namely a drought & little inflow to our dams this season. I urge all residents to start conserving water now. If it rains that will be an answer to prayer and a bonus, but we must all act responsibly now to lessen a crisis, if not avoid it altogether.
