@Microinteracti1 The US National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024, enacted on 22 December 2023, prohibits the President from unilaterally withdrawing from NATO without approval of a two-third Senate super-majority or an act of Congress. (Wiki)

@MartinHStrobel1 @txgermanbre for lot of Americans it is surprisingly easier to learn Swiss German than HochDeutsch
English

@txgermanbre Schwyzerdütsch könnte Dich überraschen...
Deutsch

@txgermanbre You guys will be happy there. It’s great place to live. Germany is easy to get to. Little expensive but quality, efficiency is great and landscape is also one of a kind

@RosenvoldGeo @AndreasSteno Law was passed before 2nd term he can’t do it without 2/3 majority in senate. Plus no one is giving up Ramstein, Landstuhl hospital, USAG Bavaria, new money always into MK Romania etc… not happening

@firstonceagain @brave_romania Europe is just fine. I had dinnner this evening in a European city and the only thing burning was the grill. Stop projection slopping anti Euro bullshit
English

@brave_romania These people are desperate for attention. Europe is burning, Middle East under water. The Ukrainian beggar spending money left and right and somehow the problem is within Russia. What if. let's say we get rid of EU and see if the narrative holds?

Russian Pro-Kremlin Blogger Warns of a “New February 1917”
A well-known Russian nationalist blogger and strong supporter of the war in Ukraine, Maxim Kalashnikov (also known as a “Z-patriot”), has issued a strong warning about growing instability inside Russia.
In his recent statements, Kalashnikov says Russia is on the edge of a new February 1917, referring to the revolution that overthrew the Russian Tsar and led to the collapse of the Russian Empire.
He warns that “something bad is happening” and that the country faces “dramatic events” that could threaten its current form.

NATO countries have been exercising this exact Baltic nightmare for many years with EFP/EDI/ERI programs and other joint combined brigades and task forces. The problem is political whether there is the will to execute any of the war plans on the books. I think they are more prepared than we estimate but I’m not as confident in nato political leadership
English

I respect Toomas very much but this attitude is beyond comprehension to me.
1) Baltics are a much easier invasion target for Russia compared to Ukraine.
2) NATO refused to defend Ukraine for irrational fear of attack by Russia and its nukes. What's going to be different?
3) NATO can't defend the Baltics. Insufficient will, munitions, and zero ability to counter Russian drone swarms.
4) Russia can occupy the capitals in hours/days, dig in, mine the area, and then snipe at any allied infantry with artillery and drones that may try to come through. Is NATO going to bomb Tallin, Riga, and Vilnius? Russia is willing to lose millions of soldiers in the war. How many are Poland or Finland willing to lose? What about Germany?
5) Alternately Russia could start by occupying Narva in Estonia and gauge the reaction. Is today's NATO going to go WW3 over a tiny border town with 50,000 population?
6) Europe doesn't have enough missiles to do any meaningful damage to Russia. Once out of conventional munitions, you're crazy if you think France or the UK will launch pre-emptive nukes against Moscow because Russia expanded its border by 10km, 1,700km away in Estonia.
7) If Russia invades the Baltics it's because NATO members refused to defend Ukraine. Every single nation refused to do the right thing - send troops to help Ukraine when it mattered most. They still haven't done it. You reap what you sow.

toomas hendrik ilves@IlvesToomas
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Except Ukraine wasn't in NATO. And what if Russia fails to destroy NATO and St. Petersburgh finds itself under a rain of missiles? Quite a gamble to "destroy NATO"

So nvidia I guess just announced they finally put the dudes who wear the giant suits out of business. Should make Times Square a real hoot in a few years instagram.com/reel/DWBqZbRim…

@nic_amadio Swiss price tag is worth mentioning but for those who have capital intensive structures and cross border structures the ticket price (net wealth tax) is cost of clean capital. Andorra and Monaco are pricier and carry tail risk Switzerland don’t have. Plus Swiss brand value is A+
English

One can argue that the stability Switzerland gives is partially counterbalanced by the $$ it sucks from you.
For instance, see below how Croatia wouldn't necessarily be worse than Switzerland in case of WW3.
Of course, as always when discussing Switzerland and cost of living, it depends on how rich you are.
But for most people, it won't be negligible:
Imagine if you have a family and your burn rate is 10-50k per month and your sales go down for a while because of a global turmoil...
Vs being in a place like Croatia with <10k/mo burn rate (probably you'd be owning a place there so easily <5k burn ate even with big family).
Capital gives stability too. Switzerland gives stability but also sucks capital. So...

FREE CAMEROON 🇨🇲@Fredareyouaman
@nic_amadio 1000%. Switzerland is a great place to have a base. It a costly base for sure but over the long-term its a bet that's proven to be true for many.
English

@txgermanbre Bre can you DM me about this. Building something similar and working on a project based on wargame format I used to do in my old job.
English

@txgermanbre if the groypers are in revolt against maga they have a real problem. Foolish for any political party believing they can house train nazis. Haven't we learned this lesson?
English

@BtcPowUpdate @HodlMagoo Why do people still not understand it doesn’t matter if the US makes lots of its own oil and gas. Oil is a global commodity. If the price goes up in the market you don’t get a discount because you live in a country with a surplus
English

@HodlMagoo EU 🇪🇺 has the most to lose from the Iran situation.
The US 🇺🇸 will be fine.
It has massive oil & gas production.
"But gasoline's going up" and so are the billions in extra income we are making from selling LNG to no-energy continents.

@thealepalombo @mamboitaliano__ Alessandro, if someone is born overseas to parent with Italian citizenship but applies and simultaneously establishes residency will they still qualify?
English

@mamboitaliano__ Yep, they could have amended the law to require proof of connection instead. A language test, cultural ties…. Something.
English

🚨 The ruling of the Italian Constitutional Court is absolutely shameful
Banning citizenship by Italian bloodline offends the memory and heritage of the millions of people who emigrated across the world, and still carry the name of Italy and its flag with pride
A disgrace 🇮🇹

CNN@CNN
The announcement will be a devastating blow for those who believed the court would uphold Italy’s 160-year history of citizenship by descent, or ius sanguinis. cnn.it/3PBZRVR
English

@nonregemesse If this show was never made, we would have never had GOT. It was ahead of its time and so outrageously expensive to shoot (no cgi) all live mostly shot in Italy. Taught HBO lessons that enabled big production to work later on. They’ll probably bring it back one day

@BTC_for_Freedom Switzerland - Zug or Lugano. Zug more international with excellent business infrastructure. Lugano is lovely but Zug has speed and efficiency that make a Zurich banker blush

@txgermanbre If you are beginner to intermediate Silver Coast in Portugal is usually safe bet. North coast of Spain also has good surfing. Depends on season. Med has spots even in winter decent but Summer it’s a tub. We saw great spots even in Catalunya last month.

Korea has a housing system that makes foreigners' brains stop working.
It's called 전세 (jeon-se).
You give the landlord a massive deposit — like ₩200,000,000 to ₩300,000,000.
Then you pay ZERO rent. Every month. For 2 years.
(You still pay utilities and maintenance fees — but zero rent.)
When you move out? You get the ENTIRE deposit back.
"Wait. So you just... live there for free?"
Basically, yes. The landlord invests your deposit and keeps the returns.
"And you get ALL of it back?"
