FRI AFTERNOON - SAT MORNING SNOWFALL... ❄️Watch the 4-6" polygon move around a bit as models have a very tough time with #NorlunTrough scenarios. Odds favor stronger/more intense snowfall over NJ/DE/SE PA where the best lift will be found. ❄️Arctic air will be firmly in place so mixing should not be expected. ❄️Heavy snow will be found over the Blue Ridge from upper level energy and another push of arctic air (this is the area where we see over 6" of snow ❄️Extremely SHARP cutoff north of the system. Places like #Hartford #Boston #Springfield may see little snow unless the norlun trough shifts further north. That will not be decided until Thu evening/Fri AM Please see my prior tweet on the norlun trough aka #InvertedTrough for a full explanation.

That is all heading our way. I expect Wakefield to issue advisories at some point and sterling plans to issue a new batch of advisories for “round 2” (even though this seems like one big event imo). Stay safe and enjoy the first accumulating snow of the season tomorrow!

@GoorooWinter is the 10:1 ratio still the most accurate with these temps they expect? i remember early on 12 or 13:1 was gonna be more accurate

Bigger potential for Friday into Saturday. Love the look again today from the GFS. You can tell me it’s over 5 days out that’s fine I know but this has big “ potential ” much more than Tuesday . Again follow along if you want if not move along that’s fine I’m getting excited.

Communicating uncertain weather forecasts is a challenge, especially when probability of a snowstorm is not a certainty and guidance is largely inconsistent, as this loop of trends in GEFS probability of >1" of snow shows.
