Nigeria received $20.98 BILLION in remittances last year. Lost over $1.6 BILLION in fees. That's ₦2.2 TRILLION gone. And people are calling CRYPTO the scam? Let's talk about what's actually happening. Every time someone sends you money from abroad, your money passes through banks, middlemen, and payment processors. Each one takes a cut. Each one marks up the exchange rate. And by the time it hits your account, you've quietly lost anywhere between 3-8% without even realizing it. Someone sends you $500 at today's rate that's around ₦698,500. But what actually hits your account? Depends on who's sending it. Remitly, Wise, WorldRemit, they all give you a different rate than the real one. Some mark it up. Some add fees on top. Some do both. By the time it lands, ₦25,000 to ₦55,000 is already gone.
