@GumboCoys Been going to Cal games since I was a kid in early 80s and that game was by far the greatest in-stadium vibe I have ever seen at CMS.

I am alive today and plan to be alive tomorrow for one reason only. If we ever get to witness anything like this ever again, I don’t want to miss out.

@AGuyNamedNam There’s no question y’all are a big part of the program. At the very least for engagement and enjoyment factor but it’s bigger than that. Go bears forever!

I truly, truly believe that the Calgorithm is going to be an important piece of the rebuild. We can't control everything (or anything on the field), but what we do absolutely matters. And when the good days come, we will be all the better for what we are now.

It is *not* fun on here lately. If you are not having fun, find your own fun. Participate in the shenanigans that move you. Shit, make your own. Because there *will* be people protecting the spirit of this thing from people who don't want to be a part of it in a meaningful way.

IMO something that really sucks for our attendance is just the overall logistics of getting to the stadium. Parking in Berkeley is utterly abysmal. You literally have to park your car far as hell from CMS, then walk a marathon UPHILL to the stadium or pay $20 for an uber

Got a DM from someone who read this and decided the point was that Cal students are quote “football illiterate”. This is gonna be a bit of a long post. ⬇️ If that’s your takeaway, it’s your takeaway. But every Saturday, every single school in every single corner of the country is going to have a slightly introverted freshman in the student section who might be attending their first college football game ever, much less major sporting event in general. They might not know a single person on the field, hell, they might not even know how many points a TD is worth. What matters to me is whether we are making tangible efforts to make sure students aren’t just having a good first experience in this community, but make them want to come back - and hopefully with others. I see some of you running accounts breaking down different chants. I see others making posters. Some of yall have branched over to Instagram. All that shit matters. And if i can continue making content on here that makes people emotionally invested through laughter- then I’ve done my part. What will you do?

@JeffFaraudo Can never fault someone for doing what he did in this age, but how he did it left a bad taste for sure. I don’t feel the same about Ott or others. In the end wish him very well and he’ll always be a good bear that brought us some great memories

Dear @avinashkunnath and @TwistNHook, I’m officially over (not that you care) you guys throwing fits every time Cal loses. You used to cover Cal athletics and put the athletes first, now all you do is complain when things are bad, and take credit for college gameday.

@GumboCoys @AGuyNamedNam I'll just say: some of the best years of my life were when I was at Cal, and our football team was WAY worse than this. We all let Cal football ruin a lot of Saturdays, but you can't let it ruin your whole life. Might be time to recenter your universe a bit. (But not too much).

The only joy I derive from attending this school comes from Cal football. I don’t actually care that I go to UC Berkeley—there are plenty of great schools with great faculty, and it wasn’t THAT hard to get in. This is all I’ve got, and it’s horseshit.

There are enough sickos who hope for a good Cal program. That hope kept our community going. It got us GameDay. It was needed when we were ready to fall. But we alone can’t build a program. We need everyone back. And we’re about to lose them all again if we don’t really try.

Cal nearly faced existential death last year because enough people out there didn’t believe we cared. The fans proved over the last month that this isn’t the case. But we will do this dance with mortality again if our university doesn’t prioritize winning NOW. Time is short.

My last thing on the Bear Territory Chant. We gotta let the students try some things for themselves and make changes to fit the modern era of how they interact with the atmosphere of the game. We need to give them the blessing to atleast try.
